Your Eyes never Lie
Have you ever thought about who you are? Why you look the
way you do, why you stand or express yourself in a certain
manner? Why are you fine boned or why are you heavy set,
your colouring etc? A lot of who you are is related to genetics,
“Yes your DNA!”
When you were conceived you may have been, just two tiny
strands of DNA, and many of the aspects of who you are today
were already programmed into those tiny specks of DNA,
“BUT!” I believe we can have a profound influence on that
programmed information.
The caption at the top of the page says “your eyes never lie!”
well I have found this to be very true, your iris remembers
everything that has happened to you during your lifetime, it also
indicates various aspects about your genetics. Your iris shows
areas that need nurturing to help you have a better quality of
life, I guess you could say they are the blueprint of who you
are, much like your finger print.
For example when my grandson was three years of age I took
a photo of his iris and I could see he was going to have
digestive problems, he had similar markings in his eyes to his
mother, who had also had digestive disorders in the past. By
the age of five he was seeing a specialist (unfortunately mum
and dad weren’t into natural medicine back then so I couldn’t
change the outcome)
As I look at eyes day in day out, I have realised, every iris is
very different, I guess it’s like looking at a person’s face (which
is also a common oriental diagnostic technique, looking at face
shapes, lines etc. They all have meaning).
You are unique, there is no one on this planet the same as you,
and therefore in regard to health you need to be treated as
such, an individual. So when we consider medicines, diet,
exercise programs, what might work for one may not
necessarily work for another and the like.
The iris has a reflex connection to every organ and tissue of the
body by way of the nervous system. Via the optic nerves, which
are attached to the eyes, visual information is sent to the brain.
Information is then sent back to the eyes from the brain about
the state of the organs and tissues in your body.
Iridology is considered by some to be the new science and as
in any science researchers are constantly updating their
findings and discovering new methods for treatment.
We will talk more about the eyes in my next column, we will
look at personality traits, the gifts you were given, like creativity,
intellect and much more.
Other services:
One of my greatest passions is herbal medicine, I find by
making you a body balancing tonic for all the areas that I see in
your eyes that need to be nurtured, many of the health issues
begin to improve. Herbal medicine assimilates very well with
human tissue, it therefore is utilized very efficiently by the body.
Hemaview:
Have you ever seen your blood cells up on a big screen or
looked through a microscope and seen your blood cells
dancing like shining stars on a dark velvet background? This is
what you will see when you have live blood cell analysis done,
“it’s amazing!” It always blows me away, to see that a tiny drop
of blood looks just like the universe. Do you think there is a
connection? Well, I’ll leave that one up to you, but it is a great
tool and very interesting.
Just a few examples of what can be seen in that one tiny drop
of your blood are inflammation, iron, B12, folate status, the
need for anti-oxidants, gut permeability, digestive health and
much more.
Lecturing:
Four years ago I was approached and asked to teach herbal
medicine at what is now the Now Endeavour college, and in
2009 the opportunity arose to teach iridology and a little oriental
diagnosis. I must say I feel truly blessed to have had this
wonderful opportunity, the experience has helped me to grow
on many different levels. It gave me the chance to pass my
deep love of these subjects on to my students and perhaps
through them this passion can spread and help the community.
So! How about you, would you like to sit with me for 90 minuets
and have a free photo of your iris to take away. Let me help you
to utilize your gifts, and balance your body’s systems to create
the real you, a healthy, robust and dynamic individual. Together
we can see “What your eyes remember!” because your eyes
never lie. Check out my web site: www.irishealth.com.au

Your Eyes never Lie
In my last column I talked about physical signs, patterns
and colours seen in the iris and how a lot of what is seen
in the iris is related to your DNA and your genetics. Certain
markings in the iris and colourings are passed down to
you from mum and dad, nana and grandad, and a
generation behind them, (what a wonderful thing to know!).
Your iris will also indicate areas that need nurturing
depending on what has happened to you throughout your
life, for example; hardening of the arteries may be seen,
your cholesterol status, or you may have an underactive
digestive system inhibiting the production of stomach
acid, this may cause poor assimilation of the foods you are
eating which might in turn cause you to feel tired, sluggish
or bloated. These signs and many more may be seen in
your iris.
The iris is the blueprint of who you really are, it is unique,
there is no one on this planet like you. In this column I’m
going to talk about some of the emotional markings and
patterns seen in the iris, because you are much more than
just a physical body, I will mention some of the gifts
handed down to you from your ancestors. For example
maybe you are very creative? Perhaps your grandfather
was a great violinist and you too have inherited the
potential to be musically creative as well? Do you have a
natural flare with mathematical equations’ or work with
ease within the intellectual fields. Perhaps you are a bit of
a perfectionist or a very animated person who speaks with
hand gestures, “how interesting!” it would be boring if we
were all the same. We need to remember that our thoughts
and emotions have a profound effect on our health and
also what happens to you in your daily life.
Lets look at children for example, some of the markings
can even be seen in a small baby such as a thick dark ring
around the outer border of the iris, these individuals are
usually fun to deal with and have a feeling that they are
special and blessed. Your child may have light coloured
rings all the way around the iris indicating that they are
very sensitive, they may dream a lot or be sensitive to
smells. Often I’ll tell the parent that their child is very
creative or is a real softy and feels everything going on
around them, and I find it helps the parent to understand
why the child behaves in a certain manner. I find the
children of today to be incredibly knowing, sometimes I
wonder who’s teaching who?
Within my clinic I find Celloids, which are small mineral
complexes extremely effective for enhancing childrens
health. Celloids provide the building blocks for their health
and provide nutritional support for times when the child is
growing, this is the time when children need more support
nutritionally. Sometimes they just don’t get enough from
the foods they are eating. Celloids are gentle, yet very
effective. Mineral deficiency signs can be seen in the iris
by looking at different markings, patterns or colourings
and from the practitioner looking at a child’s nails or
tongue for various signs. Different minerals can help with a
variety of symptoms ranging from tummy pains, problems
sleeping, constant colds, ear problems, calming an
overactive child and much more. Celloids can be crushed
with the back of a spoon and added to cereals or made into
a paste and put on mum’s nipple when breast feeding or
even crushed and put into the babies bath water. Minerals
play a very important role and are needed every day to
keep us nourished and healthy, if minerals are missing
from our diet they must be supplemented because the
body cannot make them.
Also when you come in for an iridology session, as I
mentioned above, I will look at your body signs such as
your nails, tongue and certain facial signs, these signs can
determine mineral deficiencies, low oxygen levels in the
body, uric acid deposits in the body and much more, you
will find this is extremely interesting. These signs help me
to help you, low oxygen may occur for example if you are a
shallow breather, this is very common today, oxygen
consumption is very important because it helps keep our
cells alive and is used by the cells in many processes such
as breaking down excesses of toxic substances. Uric acid
in the body can cause pain and inflammation, both can be
remedied with herbal medicine and mineral supplements.
Remember that your eyes and your body signs never lie
and what a wonderful story they can tell us.

Your Eyes never Lie
Remember you are unique, and your eyes portray your
story, they tell us about your genetic background, indicate
some of your personality traits, your nutritional status, and
much more.
One of the most common disorders I see in my clinic today
are digestive problems. Have you ever heard of the saying
“you are what you eat,” how true. Digestive problems can
be seen very clearly in the iris (the coloured section of the
eye), for example: if your body’s not absorbing nutrients
very well, this is often due to insufficient production of
hydrochloric acid by the stomach (a major component of
gastric juice), which is very common today. Stress has
been found to inhibit the production of hydrochloric acid
along with mineral insufficiency. Minerals such as zinc,
chlorine and even sodium take part in making hydrochloric
acid in the stomach. A lack of hydrochloric acid can cause
the foods you are eating to ferment, and you may
experience bloating or gas, does this sound familiar?
Sometimes this fermentation distends the stomach to the
point where the valve at the bottom of the gullet can’t hold
the pressure and eventually the stomach content pushes
up into the lower gullet causing reflux (a burning
sensation). These individuals often have bad breath as
well. All of this and much more can be seen in the iris, the
iris tells me the whole story, it opens the window so to
speak and shows me how to help you and how to get right
to the root of the problem.
I also look at the Sclera the white portion of your eyes, by
looking at the veins, colours and patterns seen in this part
of the eye it generally confirms what I have already seen in
the iris and sometime shows me even more. Often when
you have digestive problems I will also do other tests such
as look at your urine to verify certain markers or I may look
at your blood cells which can indicate the nutritional status
of your blood, digestive health, allergic reactions, any
inflammatory process, your hydration levels and more.
As I’ve been talking to you about digestion I wanted to
mention a little bit about food selection. Did you know that
every living creation on this planet has a vital force (an
energy), even the food we eat needs to have some vital
force or energy within it, to keep us nourished. If you think
about the fruit and vegetables you consume each day, ask
yourself “How fresh are they?” do you eat organic vegies,
grow them yourself, get them from the market or from a
lovely fresh fruit and vegetable shop or maybe you get
them in the supermarket. Something to consider is, by the
time the vegetables are picked and packaged, then sent to
where they have to go and put out on the shelves, they
don’t have much, if any, vital force or energy left. Also lot
of the soils the vegies are grown in are nutritionally
depleted, so take the time and make sure you look for
really fresh produce to keep your family healthy, it’s
important. If you can’t find really fresh produce you may
find you need a few supplements to help replenish the
body. In my last column I spoke about Celloid mineral
therapy and how markings and colourings seen in the iris,
tongue, nails and face can communicate a need within the
body for extra nourishment from these beautiful gentle
minerals. Minerals are like the building blocks of our
foundation, and often due to our busy lifestyles,
inadequate diets, food sources and especially during
periods of growth, we need extra supplementation to keep
us nourished and healthy.
Take care of your body, it’s the only one you’ve got,
nurture your body, nourish it, exercise regularly, and make
sure you rest and replenish when your body is tired.
Vertigo
Lastly I’d like to tell you all a story about something that
happened to me over the last few months and maybe it will
help someone. Last November I was sitting with a new
client and all of a sudden I felt a bit dizzy, within about 10
minutes I couldn’t even see my own hand the world was
spinning like a top. I started vomiting and this went on for
the next 8 hours. Within the first three months I had five
attacks, the last one lasted for three days, spinning and
sucking on ice chips. The reason I’m telling you this is
because through this experience, I have learnt a lot about
vertigo, and found some great ways to help. My vertigo
was caused by a virus, which in turn caused the vestibular
nerve in my inner ear to become inflamed, this can take
some time to repair so you have to teach your sensory
system to learn to compensate for the damage. Firstly I
have found acupuncture really helps, also I have found a
homeopathic remedy specifically for vertigo and nausea. I
found a lovely lady who is a physiotherapist and she
taught me some exercises to help the sensory system to
adapt and lastly I have made up a herbal formulation to
help repair the nerves and to reduce the inflammation,
along with supporting the immune system (we don’t want
to set it off again with a cold or another virus) and lastly
supporting the nervous system because it’s been so
stressful. So if you are suffering from vertigo and you need
some help I can definitely steer you in the right direction.

Your Eyes never Lie
Something to think about! Medicine is a science, and
science is about data, numbers, and clinical trails, its
about what can be measured (which is important), but life
is much more than facts, it’s actually full of mystery,
wonder and the unknown. So we need to look at all the
variables, because you are a unique individual. This is why
I love looking at the iris (the coloured portion of the eyes).
The iris as mentioned in my previous columns tells us a lot
about genetic characteristics and potentials, which have
been encoded into your DNA from past generations.
One of the features we look at in the iris are the variations
of colours. All the different colours in your eyes indicate
different potentials, for example, there are only three
coloured eyes, blue eyes, brown eyes and the mixed
colour (meaning there are blue and brown eyes in this
individuals genetic pool). Yes I can hear you thinking
“that’s not right, what about green?” Green eyes are a
variation of blue eyes with a yellow wash over the top and
can indicate that the individual needs to nurture their
kidneys.
Think of your kidneys as your battery terminals, “Are your
batteries low, are you running on overdrive?” Whether the
yellow colouring has come through genetically, or from
circumstances during this lifetime, it indicates the need to
give the kidney’s a little extra support. Your kidneys can be
affected by your emotions and are involved in the
cleansing process of the body, they aid in the elimination
of toxins, along with the skin, your bowel movements and
your breathe i.e. when you breath out carbon dioxide.
Here are a few tips to help you support your kidneys.
There are some beautiful herbs to nourish the kidneys
such as nettle or couch grass: drink adequate amounts of
water; too much protein may overload the kidney with
nitrogen rich metabolic waste. If kidney problems are
suspected, the diet should be low in protein and protein
should predominantly be from vegetable sources. Personal
hygiene needs to be good, and dietary irritants should be
avoided, also avoid excess coffee and tea etc.
YOUR HAIR MAY HOLD THE SECRET?
Have you ever heard of Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis? It’s a
specialized analytical test that measures the levels of trace
minerals found in a sample of hair. These trace minerals
are essential in all phases of life, they provide the building
blocks to life itself and are necessary in the production of
hormones and enzyme activity. Sometimes depending on
where we live or what we do for a living etc. toxic minerals
such as lead, mercury and cadmium etc, can be stored in
various parts of your cells and tie up certain nutrients, this
may mean you need more of this particular nutrient, for
example mercury can tie up iron and zinc, this could
deplete your immune system or affect your digestion. I
think due to the poorer soils found today, the modern
farming methods, fertilizers used, the environmental
pollutants we all live with and our diet and lifestyle
choices, the need to monitor our nutritional status is
becoming increasingly important. To know exactly what
nutrients your body is crying out for, your hair could
possibly give us some answers, just as the rings on the
trees can tell us a lot about the life of the tree, so too can
the hair. Your hair might be the key to better health.
“SUMMERS COMING!” WOULD YOU LIKE TO LOSE A FEW
KILO’S?
Recently a new scientifically advanced fat loss program
was launched throughout Australia, it’s called “Shake it”
this program is based on a carbohydrate controlled diet
that incorporates good levels of dietary protein,
appropriate levels of healthy fats and moderate exercise to
support rapid and lasting fat loss.
“Shake it” encourages the body to utilize fat as the primary
source of fuel, resulting in fat loss while preserving the
muscle mass. When muscle mass is lost, it can reduce the
ability to burn calories and increase your likelihood of
putting fat back on. The principles of this program consist
of one meal replacement per day, along with two sensible
meals and two snacks, it comes with a list of allowable
foods, and a recipe book to help you with some really good
ideas and strategies. The “Shake it” program is now
available in my clinic.

December 2010.
Your Eyes never Lie
Are you feeling bloated, uncomfortable or the need to get
your body back into some sort of balance after the festive
season? Perhaps a gentle nudge is all you need! To start
with, Christmas is a very emotional time for a lot of people,
it’s all about the happy family and unfortunately that’s not
always the case. Also there is the pressure of making
Christmas day perfect for everyone, the great feast etc.
Stress, as we all know, takes its toll on the body and I
would suggest that 80% of people could do with a jolly
good tonic after Christmas to rebalance their body. If we
related this to the iris there are many signs we can look at
that may give the indication of the level of stress your
body is struggling to cope with, if you just look at your
eyes in the mirror its often quite easy to see the difference
in your eyes day to day in relation to your health.
For example, whenever I get run down my eyes look like
they are covered with a light yellow film, they are not
sparkling back at me so to speak. You may remember in
one of my previous columns the comparison I made in
relation to a healthy child who’s eyes would be bright
compared to someone elderly in a nursing home, who’s
eyes would be dull, so take a minute everyday and start to
take notice of your eyes on a regular basis.
Prolonged stress, which can be caused from a multitude of
avenues such as lack of nutrition, lack of rest, emotional
stressors, alcohol, drugs abuse, infection, illness etc. often
effects our adrenal glands, you may have heard of adrenal
exhaustion or burn out. The adrenal gland produces
hormones, one of which is cortisol, which helps regulates
our immune system and metabolises carbohydrates and
proteins, it can help us recover from infection and stress,
however too much cortisol may cause weight gain in the
trunk of the body and may suppress your immune system,
its all about balance. Aldosterone is another hormone
produced by the adrenal cortex and it regulates the body’s
fluid balance, so if it’s too high you may feel puffy or your
blood pressure may begin to rise. These hormones are
really important to keep balanced so your body can have
some harmony. With the support of some beautiful herbs
such as Rehmannia and Liquorice, which nourish and
support the adrenal glands, along with herbs like Rhodiola
and Siberian ginsing to adapt the body to the level of
physiological stress we can assist your well being, vitality
and quality of life.
Let’s have a think about your digestion, because most of
us have probably been overeating through Christmas and
should consider the strain we have put on our liver.
Your liver transforms excess foods into acid which may
disrupt your acid base balance in your body (your PH), this
will also put more strain on your kidneys and so forth. If
the liver becomes tired, you may feel drowsy or nervous,
and if you have been drinking a bit more alcohol than
usual this may weaken the ability of the liver to cleanse the
blood. If you wake up with nausea, think “My liver needs
some help!” In regard to iridology, liver signs may show up
as brown spots like freckles sprinkled over the iris or
individuals with brown eyes may have radials which look
like long grooves or spokes radiating out from the pupil
into the iris. A patch of brown pigment in the whites of the
eyes (especially in blue eyes) can indicate the liver needs
support, or a patch of yellow in the whites of the eyes
(known as the sclera) is a good indication that your liver
needs nourishing.
So what can we do to get you back on track? As well as
looking at your iris there are simple tests such as the
Indican test which involves taking a urine sample and
mixing it with several actives which helps evaluate your
internal environment. There are fabulous herbs to nurture
your system such as St Marys Thistle, which is a lovely
herb to support, protect and nourish the liver, it is also a
great antioxidant. Schisandra, which acts as a tonic for
your liver and supports the nervous system and Dandelion
which has bitter properties to aid digestion, has a
cleansing action for the kidneys and can also aid liver
function.
Remember you are a unique individual and there is no one
on this planet the same as you. Your eyes indicate what
has been passed down through the generations genetically
as well as what has happened to you throughout your life,
they are your blueprint of who you are. Your eyes never lie.
