Mental Health Measures
• For Both Mothers and Fathers
– From the CIDI (Composite International
Diagnostic Interview) Short Form
• Major Depressive Episode (scale= 0 – 7),
diagnosis (scale>=3)
• General Anxiety Disorder (scale= 0 – 13),
diagnosis (scale>=9)
– Drug & Alcohol Use & Abuse
– Substance Abuse Problem
Major Depression (Method 1)
• Felt sad or depressed for at least two weeks
&
• Feelings lasted most or all day
&
• Feelings felt almost every day or every day
&
• At least 3 of these symptoms:

Lost interest in things
Feel more tired than usual
Gained or lost 10 or more lbs. without trying
Trouble falling asleep
Trouble concentrating
Feel worthless
Think a lot about death
Major Depression (Method 2)
• Lost interest in things for at least two weeks

• Feelings lasted all or most of the day
&
• Feelings felt almost every day or every day
&
• At least 3 of these symptoms:
