NEERANCHAL National Watershed Management Project to support the Watershed Component of the PMKSY (erstwhile IWMP) (2015-2022) Overview of Neeranchal Four Components • • • • Central Institutional and Capacity Building National Innovation Support Implementation Support in Participating States Project Management and Co-ordination Duration - Six years (2015-16 to 2020-21) Participating States Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan and Telengana Central Institutional and Capacity Building (Rs 68 Cr- US$ 11.4 million - 3.2 %) Capacity Building • • • Development of Customized training modules with quality control Support States in development of their long term Capacity Building Plans and training calendars Pool of resource persons at different levels Nation Innovation Data Centre • • • Tools, models, best practices, essential links Customized to community and other stakeholder needs Supported by pool of resource persons Communications and IEC Messages on PMKSY, water management and use, climate change challenges for water and agriculture M&E and Management • • Operationalizing near real time monitoring through RS-GIS and at community level for in time corrections Project Management Software development This component will enable scientific planning. To positively impact PMKSY implementation in all IWMP States National Innovation Support ( Rs 181.2 Cr- US$ 30.2 m - 8.5%) o Ensuring sustainable water availability through appropriate Hydrology and Water Management Practices o Ensuring optimal agricultural Productivity increases through water management and other practices The component will enable: • • • • • • Development of new practices in Watershed Management Enhancement of productivity and yields Support forward/ market linkages Use of Hydrology in planning Climate Change resilient agriculture Pilot Urban Watersheds This component will also impact PMKSY all the States implementing IWMP.
