Targeting core metabolic pathways
a
in
M. tuberculosis
ABSTRACT
Research in my laboratory is aimed at identifying metabolic vulnerabilities in
M. tuberculosis and elucidating mechanisms by which the inhibition of core
metabolic functions results in death of the tubercle bacillus. In this talk, I
will describe the integrated genetic, biochemical and physiological approach we
are taking to address these questions using pyrimidine metabolism and coenzyme A
metabolism as illustrative examples
