For thirty years Arlington Cancer Center has been known nationally as a pioneer – offering cutting-edge, individualized cancer and blood treatments. ACC has grown to ten physicians, offering more than 150 years of combined experience in treating solid tumors, blood cancers and blood disorders. Our hematologists/oncologists and staff have trained, practiced and taught at premier national and international cancer centers and medical schools. Our extensive experience and exceptional personalized approach to patient care is what makes Arlington Cancer Center unique. New patient packet/1 Cancer Treatment at Arlington Cancer Center Cancer is a life-changing diagnosis. Here at the Arlington Cancer Center, we are as determined as you are in beating the disease. Our physicians and staff understand that you need an innovative partner to help you make the most informed decisions about your care and your future. We are committed to winning the fight against cancer while enhancing the health, dignity and wholeness of each patient by providing quality compassionate care. Our goal is to help you live a long, quality-filled life. Our Philosophy: Individualized Treatment Plans Every cancer is unique just as the person it affects — shouldn’t your cancer treatment also be unique? Individualized treatment plans are the cornerstone of Arlington Cancer Center’s practice and attract patients worldwide when other physicians have turned them away or given them no hope. Our physicians work with each individual to educate them about their cancer, the options and recommendations for treatment, developing the treatment plan together as a team. As part of our plans, we utilize the newest technologies to identify which therapies work best for your specific diagnosis. Once treatment is started, we will continually monitor your prognosis and treatment plan, reviewing it in clinical conferences and in meetings with you and your family/caregivers. You will have a multi-disciplinary team working with you in diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of your illness. Your Medical Oncologist/Hematologist will take the lead, but works closely with our Radiation Oncologist, Radiologists, Nurses, Pharmacists and Technicians involved with your treatment. Our objective is for you to be an active and informed partner in your treatment, so please mention any concerns or questions you may have about your cancer, your treatment plan or side effects. Together we can be successful in triumphing over the disease. New patient packet/2 Comprehensive Services at Arlington Cancer Center: Laboratory: Hours: 7:30am – 5:00pm Our first floor laboratory provides comprehensive and advanced testing. We offer diagnostic testing such as blood counts, serum chemistry, prothrombin times and urinalysis tests. Specialized testing includes chemotherapeutic drug sensitivity, tumor markers, circulating tumor cells, and flow cytometry. Our stem cell lab is responsible for testing, processing and storing patients’ stem cells. Our lab is staffed with oncology-trained technologists, and our specialized expertise has resulted in numerous other facilities in the DFW Metroplex sending specimens to our lab for analysis. Diagnostic Radiology: Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm ACC offers a broad range of diagnostic equipment on-site including: x-ray, ultrasound, digital mammography, nuclear medicine, MRI, CT and PET/CT. ACC’s diagnostic software creates three-dimensional reconstruction and analysis, resulting in more clearly defined tumors and enhanced diagnostic accuracy. Having these onsite services provide conveniences for our patients, and rapid current results for our physicians. Chemotherapy Infusion Center: Chemotherapy (also called adjuvant therapy) uses drugs given intravenously which interfere with cancer cell growth and reproduction. It may be used alone, with oral medication, with radiation therapy and other therapies. Our specially designed infusion center is set up with chairs in groups of four to facilitate conversation and comfort. A safe and cost effective alternative to hospitalization, it is staffed with caring, knowledgeable oncology nurses trained to administer and monitor patients during therapy. Radiation Therapy: Radiation Therapy utilizes high-energy x-rays and electron beams to destroy cancer cells. Patients typically undergo a series of treatments designed to stop the spread of cancer, provide relief of symptoms or eliminate the cancer entirely, if possible. In some cases radiotherapy may be combined with surgery or chemotherapy. Arlington Cancer Center houses a Linear Accelerator machine which has Intensity Modulated New patient packet/3 Radiation Therapy (IMRT) capability to precisely target the tumors while minimizing side effects to healthy tissue. Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation: Autologous stem cell transplants refer to stem cells that are collected from an individual and given back to that same individual. Sometimes used in the treatment of myeloma patients, with ASCT, the patient’s stem cells are obtained prior to high dose chemotherapy, frozen and stored, then re-infused into the patient. Arlington Cancer Center has the unique distinction worldwide of conducting these procedures in a true outpatient setting. In addition, to significant cost savings, this procedure considerably reduces the potential rejection of donor marrow and requirement to have a near perfect match between donor and patient. Pharmacy Services: Hours 9:00am - 5:00pm Patients can take advantage of our full service retail pharmacy for their oral medications and compounded prescriptions. Available at our main campus, they fill prescriptions written by ACC physicians and accept most healthcare plans.
