• He is the sky god
•Father of the Titans
•The twelve giant offspring of GAIA
and URANUS
•Also known as the elder gods
•Defeated his father, Uranus, to gain power and
leadership
•Father of Zeus
•Zeus defeated Cronus and the other Titans
•They were banished to the underworld
•Wisest of all Titans
•Fought with Zeus against his own Titans
•Cared for humans and gave them gifts, such as
the gift of fire
•This went against Zeus’s wishes
•He was punished by being chained to a rock and
having Zeus’s eagles eat his liver. It would grow
back at night so they could eat over and over
again.
•Led the Titans in their battle against Zeus and
his followers
•Zeus punished him by making him hold the
world on his back
•Titan of justice
•Mother of the ‘Fates’
•known as the Moirae
•There are 3 of these old hags
•They weave the threads of destiny that
control your life;
•They are: CLOTHO who spins the
Thread of Life, LACHESIS who allots the
length of the yarn, and ATROPOS who
does the snip (the final one).
