Two Week Wait referral update • Lung • Colorectal • Prostate • Breast • Skin What’s new nationally Be Clear on Cancer Campaign – end of January for 4 weeks – oesophago-gastric cancer What’s new nationally NHS Five Year Forward View- improving prevention, earlier diagnosis and better treatment, care and after care for all diagnosed with cancer What’s new nationally Updated TWW guidance- due May 2015- fatigue and weight loss Macmillan update Boots /Macmillan partnership Cancer Talk Week- 26th to 30th Jan Macmillan practice nurse course April start 6-7 days out of practice with some reimbursement Macmillan G.P. post/job share Cancer facts (NCIN data, JSNA) • A full time G.P. is only going to see 8-9 new cases of cancer per year • Nearly 40% of lung cancer patients are diagnosed through A+E • Almost 10% of people diagnosed with colorectal cancer die within 1 month of diagnosis • The incidence of prostate cancer is higher in Surrey that the South East but lower than England • 96% of breast cancers are diagnosed through screening(approx. 20%)TWW referral(approx. 40%) and other referrals • Malignant melanoma is the 8th most common cancer in Surrey
