What Is AIDS?

AIDS is an acronym for acquired
immunodeficiency syndrome
– A - acquired, because it is not inherited
– I - immuno, because it affects the immune
system
– D - deficiency, because the body lacks
immunity
– S - syndrome, because the symptoms occur
as a group
