Cooperation between the Republic of
Moldova and the Republic of Korea
•On January 31, 2012, marked the 20th
anniversary of establishment of MoldovanKorean diplomatic relations.
•Increased presence by Korean officials in
Moldova. In 2012, visit of Vice President of
the National Assembly of of Korea (May),
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea
(Sept), visits by the Korean Ambassador
from Kiev, Ukraine.
Assistance
•Gratitude to the Government of Republic of Korea for
considerable technical support offered to Moldova, by
KOICA, an important and reliable partner of the Moldovan
people.
•A substantial increase of KOICA assistance to Moldova
from 31.498 thousand USD in 2010, to 204.361 thousand
USD in 2011
Propose to examine opportunity of opening a Regional
KOICA office in Moldova (2 KOICA offices in Azerbaijan
and Uzbekistan), this will provide a better approach to EU
and CIS partners.
KOICA projects in Moldova
•Organization of the ICT Moldova-Korea Forum for
Digital Moldova 2020, Chisinau, March 2012
•Establishment of Information Access Center, which
was opened on August 14, 2012, includes staff of 3,
who have been trained in Korea.
•Pleased to see interest manifested by KOICA for
project "Distance Education Center for Teachers of
Moldova", estimated at 2 million USD, out of which 1
mln USD is for construction expenses and 1 mln USD
cost of equipment.
Economic Cooperation
Current level of trade relations is not capitalized to its full
extent. Trade exchanges were only 16991,5 thousand USD,
with Export 20.7 thousand USD, and Import 16970.8
thousand USD.
•We have only 2 joint ventures in Moldova:
•"Peace Marker Trade" LLC - food and beverages
•"K-M Trading" - in the field of clothes and shoes.
•Moldovans are active consumers of Korean brands, KIA,
Hyundai, Samsung, LG, KUMHO, an excellent alternative to
other Asian brands.

THE WORLD FAMOUS Milestii Mici
Largest wine cellar by number of bottles
The cellars of the Milestii Mici wine-making plant in Moldova contain over 1.5 million
bottles of wine. The bottles are stored in 55 km (34 miles) of underground galleries
excavated in lime mining operations. The first bottle was stored in 1968, and new
vintages are added each year.

Cricova – Moldova’s underground treasure
In just 15
km North of Chisinau, lays a of subterran city, a labyrinth of avenues and streets,
named after wine types. Cricova’s museum stores the country’s national collectional of
1.3 millions of bottles, the oldest one beeing from 1902.
