Desire to cut military and political ties overseas, and refocus attention on issues at home, such as: homeland defense, crime, and education. . Gradually phase out alliances outside of North America; not join other countries militarily unless their security is directly threatened. Security . Lower foreign policy profile in order to lower the risk of being attacked by terrorists. . With funds saved by reducing foreign involvement, more money will be available to build-up homeland defenses.
