• No one should assume that information on the Internet is
accurate, timely, clear, and important.
• Many of us have the perception that if something appears
in print, then it must be true.
• Any person with minimum computer skills can set up a
Website.
• There are no restrictions on what a person can place on a
site, and there are no requirements that the material be
edited or reviewed

AUTHORITY
• Is the page signed?
• Are the author’s qualifications
available?
• Does the author have expertise in
this subject?
• Is the author associated with an
educational institution or other
reputable organization?
• Is contact information available on
the site?
COVERAGE
• IS the information relevant?
• Is the information useful to you?
• Does the page have information that is
not found elsewhere?
• How in-depth is the information?
OBJECTIVITY
• Does the information show a minimum
of bias?
• Is the page a presentation of facts and
not designed to sway opinion?
• Is the page free from advertisements or
sponsored links?
ACCURACY
• Is the information reliable and errorfree?
• Can you find when the last update was?
• Is there an editor or someone who
verifies/checks the information?
• Is the page free from spelling or other
obvious problems?
CURRENCY
• Is the page dated?
• When was the last update?
• Are the links current and do they point to
existing pages?
