RESEARCH AND APPLIED INTERESTS




On-Line Analytical Processing, Decision Support, Data Warehousing, Data Streams
Develop tools and algorithms to express easily and evaluate efficiently complex data
analysis reports. Current work involves large telecom, internet and business data sets.
Data Mining, Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD)
Using and generalizing previous tools and algorithms to discover “interesting” patterns in
large data sets (user-guided data mining).
Data Modeling
Multi-dimensional conceptual models, algebraic forms and languages for complex
decision support queries; object-oriented and attribute-oriented models; schema evolution.
E-Commerce
Research on integrating XML and database systems and the issues resulting from this
integration, such as performance, query languages, modeling, etc.

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE







Panakea Software Inc. (CTO and main founder)
Develop and market patent-pending database querying/reporting
technology to make advanced data analysis (decision support/data
mining) applications easier and faster. Technology is offered as a
product and/or as consulting services. These techniques have been
implemented with great success in AT&T, Dun&Bradstreet, etc.
VoiceWeb S.A. (CTO and main founder)
Implemented the first voice portal in Greece – and among the very
first in Europe (B2C activity). Builds corporate “voice sites” so
companies can bring or even extend their web site’s functionality
to telephony in a fast and transparent way (B2B activity). Partnership
with Intel and Envox (main suppliers) to promote the “voice internet”.
DASworks (Consultant)
Object-Oriented database product development (designed and
implemented the file manager)
Sybase (Intern)
Client applications research & development
Newgate Associates (Consultant)
Financial applications programmer (integrating sources, data
analysis, consistency, reconciliation)
New York University (Consultant)
Lab assistant of NYU’s Academic Computer Facilities
