Shallow Water By Hope Sonnenburg Marine Life In shallow water you can find many different types of marine life. Echinoderms [in-ki-no-derms] • Types of echinoderms: starfish, jellyfish, sea anemone, zooplankton • An echinoderm is usually a invertebrate Crustaceans [kruh-stey-shuh’n] • Crustaceans are marine life with a hard shell. • Types of crustaceans: crabs, lobsters and barnacles Mollusks [mol-uh-sk] • Most mollusks are invertebrates • Types of mollusks: octopus, scallops Reptiles • A reptile is a cold-blooded vertebrate animal. • Types of reptiles: Sea turtle Fish • Types of fish: barracuda, flying fish Shallow Water Food Chain Shallow water areas are important components of the shoreline ecosystem providing food and shelter to many aquatic and fish species.
