PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION 15 FEB 2016 ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28TH, ENJOY AN INCREDIBLE, UNIQUE INTERNATIONAL MUSICAL COLLABORATION AT THE JAZZ CONCERT IN LONDA HOTEL’S CAPRICE RESTAURANT The smooth jazz sounds continue to entice guests to Londa’s award-winning Caprice restaurant in Limassol. The next ensemble features the Israeli saxophone player and composer, Lenny Sendersky, American guitar player, Tony Romano accompanied by Cyprus Jazz musicians, Leonid Nesterov, Nicolas Tryphonos and Andreas Stephanou, who will be performing an exhilarating mix of jazz styles, from swing to funk and ethnic jazz. Tony Romano – guitar player from New York, USA. Guitarist, Tony Romano has been a visible part of the New York City music scene for over twenty years. Just Jazz Guitar magazine wrote “His tone is beautiful and soulful, and his remarkable technique is a servant to his rich musical imagination and broad harmonic palette.” With a wide range of playing styles, Tony has toured worldwide, performing and recording with many notable Jazz, Latin, Pop, and Broadway artists, including Randy Brecker, Joe Locke, Joe Bataan, Dave Valentin, Candido Camero, Yomo Toro, Joel Frahm, Brit Woodman, Santi DeBriano, Stanley Jordan, Debbie Gibson, Alex Gemignani, and Chuck Cooper. Tony’s guitar work can be heard on all 52 episodes of the BBC series 3rd & Bird. He has also performed for the Discovery Channel miniseries ‘Going, Going, Gone!’ as well as on NPR Broadcasts, and has also appeared on NBC’s The Today Show, Telemundo, and the ABC Morning Show. Tony is an Associate Professor at Five Towns College, and has been a Teaching Artist for the Kupferberg Center at Queens College, as well as an instructor for the National Guitar Workshop for ten years. Lenny Sendersky was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and gained his reputation in the Russian jazz scene as a visionary composer, performer and producer. His compositions have been performed by international jazz musicians, including Randy Brecker, Joe Locke, Alexi Tuomarila, Amos Hoffman, and many others. Sendersky launched his international career living and performing in Denmark for two years. In 2011, he immigrated to Israel, where he established himself in the jazz scene by performing and successfully producing projects featuring Israeli, American and European jazz artists. His recent co-produced album with Tony Romano was recorded in New York City, and features contemporary jazz giants, trumpeter Randy Brecker and vibraphonist Joe Locke. Lenny’s projects with musicians from Europe, the USA and Russia include, among others: - Randy Brecker, Joe Locke, Ernesto Simson, Cleve Douglas ,Tony Romano (USA) - Amos Hoffman, Anat Fort, Slava Ganelin, Gregory Rivkin, Guri Agmon Big Band, TelAviv Big Band (Israel) - Sinne Egg (Denmark), Alexi Tuomarila and Kari Ikonen (Finland), Jaak Sooaar and Kadri Voorand (Estonia) - “Nichey Quartet", Alexey Degusarov, “Fresh" with Olga Senderskaya, Andrey Kondakov, Victoria Urusova and Roman Stolyar; Gennady Golshtein Big Band, Evgeny Lebedev (Russia) and more. Leonid Nesterov began his music career in Latvia and has lived in Limassol since 2010. He plays with numerous musicians around Cyprus sharing his passion for jazz and performs with artists from the Baltic States, Germany, Cyprus, Russia and Israel. Nicolas Tryphonos was born in Limassol and studied electric bass at Nakas Conservatory in Athens, at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and the Conservatory of Utrecht where he graduated in jazz double bass; Nikolas Tryphonos is an active musician in Cyprus’ flourishing music scene and often travels to The Netherlands to perform. Andreas Stephanou is one of the most renowned drummers in Cyprus. He started playing percussions at the age of nine, playing live with various musical groups in band competitions, concerts and recordings. After his service in the military philharmonic orchestra he continued studying percussions with George Koulas and in 2007 he was accepted at the Rotterdam Conservatory in Holland in the direction of Latin Jazz. Parallel to his studies, he has taken part in various projects such as the Hague Festival Latin Fanatics with musicians from all over the globe, such as Nelson Faria, Anna Ellis de Jong and others. Stephanou performs at musical venues all over the island. The Caprice’s cool Italian-styled interior, flanked by the tranquil blue waters of the Mediterranean sea, is the perfect backdrop for the easy melodies of vibrant jazz sounds, brilliantly performed by talented musicians. We’re delighted that the season continues with such talented performers”. The concert will start at 17:30 in Londa’s Caprice Restaurant on Sunday 28 th February.
