Ecosystem: all of the living and
non-living things in an area
interacting with each other.

An organisms “job” in
an ecosystem.
A giraffe's niche is feeding on
the canopy on trees.
*Generally, no two species will occupy the same exact niche in an
ecosystem.
*This is because it causes the species to compete with one another
for resources, and only one will prevail.
*Therefore, one species will typically have to relocate, or adapt to
another niche- which is not an easy thing to do- or risk extinction.

Lions and African wild dogs are both
carnivores, but they have slightly different
niches that allow them to coexist in the same
ecosystem. Lions hunt large prey such as
zebras, while wild dogs prefer smaller prey
such as antelope.
