THE SUN
By: Cole Sinnott 4/3/12
Some data facts about the Sun
• Scientists believe that the Sun is approximately 4.6 billion yrs. old.
• The Suns diameter is about 865,000 miles.
• The distance from the Sun to the Earth is 93 million miles away.
• At the inner core of the Sun it is 27 million degrees Fahrenheit.
• The suns made up of 92% hydrogen and 7% helium and the rest is
unknown.
• The Suns surface is 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

And the corona
Fun facts about the Sun
• If you step on the Sun (which I highly don’t
recommend doing) you will be 27 times
heavier than you are here on Earth.
• The Sun was formed from a HUGE cloud.
• In approximately 5 billion yrs. The Sun will
become a red giant.
Did you know?
• Did you know that the Suns atmosphere is
made of 3 different parts: photospheres,
chromospheres and a solar corona.
Did you know that solar flares can occur when
magnetic fields from the Sun come together
and cause HUGE explosions on the Suns
surface.
Interesting facts
• The dwarf planet Pluto is sometimes 3.4
billion miles away from the Sun.
• Without the Sun there would be no animals
and even us.
• The Sun used to be a cloud until gravity
squeezed it so tightly that it became a hot star.
•
More data facts about the Sun
• The Suns mass is 2 x 1003.
• The Suns volume is 1.41 x 1033cm squared.
• The Sun has the biggest mass in our solar
system.
Cool facts about the Sun
• The energy from the Sun travels outward.
• The Sun is the only star in our solar system.
• The Sun takes about 25 days to do a full
rotation and the Earth takes 24 hours WOW!
