COS 346 Database Capstone

Project Description
Product: To develop a database that
contained information of the NBA team the
Phoenix Suns
Method: To use SQL Server 2005
language to create the database based on
information about the Suns
Relevance: I like the team and would like
to know how the players are performing
and so might other people.
Outcomes
Successes: The creation of three tables
that were developed off of information
about the Suns found on the ESPN
website:



Average of Stats
Team roster
Shooting Stats
Created views that gave the total stats on
each category offensively and defensively
Outcomes
Failures: I could have put triggers and
more constraints on the tables to
eliminates future problems, but sort of ran
out of time.
Improvements: I think that there is pretty of
room for improvements.
Lessons Learned
I did have issues when first creating the
views, because of single quotes did not
allow me to perform the mathematical
operations I intended, but Andre
suggested that I take them out, which
worked.
Views can make the most hideous
database look a bit more presentable.
