Case Study Mazzmatazz Project in Barcelona SMC Network’s Expands and Improves Network Performance Case Study Razzmatazz Project in Barcelona THE DEMAND The increased use of the Internet and the wide use of new high quality, bandwidth-intensive services such as VoIP and high quality video streaming have created a serious capacity problem for core and access network infrastructures. In order to deliver these types of services, networks need to be able to support high bandwidth, low-delay and low-jitter (delay variation) transmission. This means core networks should support service separation and service prioritization in order to transfer different kinds of traffic with different behavior aggregates. Such solutions are provided by a Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) mechanism and Differential Services protocols which are used for traffic engineering and EE QoS provisioning in the core networks. In 2012 Sala Razzmatazz in Barcelona, one of Spain’s leading music venues, needed to find switches that would be able to meet these requirements. to better serve staff and customers. THE SOLUTION After carefully surveying the options for this project, Razzmatazz selected switches from SMC Networks that would be able to provide triple play services interconnected by trunks with LACP. The SMC8050L2 gigabit access switch is designed to support Gigabit Ethernet switching for bandwidthintensive networks that require advanced switching features. The SMC8150L2, SMC Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet managed switches segment the infrastructure into different subnets isolated from each other. In addition, trunks between switches eliminate the danger of bandwidth bottlenecks and provide link redundancy. Further, QoS improves the network performance by prioritizing delay-sensitive applications such as VoIP. This Layer 2 switch was chosen because it is ideal for gigabit to the desktop 10/100/1000 connectivity. More than 300 users benefitted from the installation. www.edge-core.com Case Study Razzmatazz Project in Barcelona The Result Sala Razzmatazz in Barcelona has successfully deployed SMC Networks SMC 8150L2 TigerSwitchTM , allowing customers and staff to enjoy Gigabit Ethernet services. The installation took place over a period of one month in 2012, with the network running at 100% within the expected time with the support of SMC Networks application engineers. The solution is now installed at Razzamatazz providing network services throughout the complex, including offices and dressing rooms. Razzmatazz is a venue in Barcelona with more than 3700m2 divided into five separate spaces. There are five halls with different dimensions and capacities equipped with stages, professional sound booths, DJ booths, light/fixtures, and audiovisual systems. Each hall has its own service rooms, wardrobe areas, and bars, (www.salarazzmatazz.com).
