IT TECHNICIAN – JOB SPECIFICATION Location: Ipswich, Suffolk Position Type: Permanent, full-time Objective: Working alongside and reporting to the IT Manager in this new role you will work within a small team managing a demanding workload. The IT Department has a visible presence across the business and therefore you must be an excellent, strong communicator with outgoing personality and the ability to build rapport, relationships and credibility quickly across all levels, with a friendly but professional and engaging approach. This interesting role has a broad scope thus facilitating self-development. Therefore the ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks with a pro-active, efficient and organised approach is fundamental as is the need to identify solutions and respond to requirements to tight deadlines with a willing yet flexible approach. Responsibilities/duties: Provision of first line Business IT support to 124 users approximately half of which are remote workers encompassing: - Laptop / desktop faults - Virus/spyware - Software installations - Upgrades - Hardware/software errors - General advice Management of software and hardware updates, upgrades and migrations Build and - Maintaining server infrastructure - located onsite Maintaining email systems Monitoring backups and anti-virus systems Managing telephone requirements including company mobiles and tablets Monitoring and reconfiguring the network, firewalls and VPN as necessary Upkeep of IT documentation and training material set-up of new hardware New servers New computers and laptops ready to reploy/replace Desktop/laptop rebuilds Installation, maintenance and replacement of printers Overseeing Company telephone systems; rolling out new handsets and configuration changes. Setup and deployment of new/replacement mobile phones. Monaghan Ireland T: +353 (0)42 9692 333 E: [email protected] bauder.ie Networking - Manage and implement changes on the Company Firewall setup, management of the wireless network, HP switch management, knowledge and understanding of VPN technology and simple network patching. Maintenance - Carry out regular preventative maintenance on all servers, desktops and laptops, including software checks, firmware upgrades etc. to ensure the smooth running of the Company IT infrastructure. Project Management - Research, plan and deploy bespoke projects as allocated by the IT Manager. - Rollout new Antivirus software to 120 servers and clients, half of which are remote workers with limited access, within a timely manner minimising disruption. - Deploy a new Microsoft Office installation\upgrade network, communicating to relevant personnel, address training requirements and provide advice on differentials between versions. Key Criteria: Well versed in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Microsoft Software and all associated operating systems, servers, back-up software and anti-virus packages. Experience of IT servers, desktops and infrastructures. Server side administration and maintenance.
