Ileocolectomy

Positioning of the surgical team and the equipment for the ileocolic procedure.
Positions of the cannulas for the ileocolic procedure. The right sided cannula (5mm) is optional,
however it will be used if it expedite the procedure.
The initial mobilization of the bowel.
Freeing up the lateral attachment of the right colon.
Freeing up the hepatic flexure so that the bowel may be drawn out of through
an umbilical incision.
A linear stapler is used to form a side-to-side anastomosis (hook-up) between
small bowel and the ascending colon.
The anastomosis is closed using a firing of the same stapler at a right angle
to the previous staple line.
