Gregory Magyar (Commentator) - Though a Houston
area high school graduate, Gregory has since spent most of
his theatrical career in Santa Fe and Seattle working with a
variety of theatre organizations as a director, actor, designer,
educator and administrator. After receiving his BFA in acting
at the College of Santa Fe’s Greer Garson Theatre Center,
Gregory developed an acting resume with credits from
Shakespeare to Pinter and musicals to film and radio drama.
As a director in the Seattle area, his credits include Gigi, The Glass Menagerie,
Jane Eyre, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Proof, Driving Miss Daisy, and Private
Lives to name but a few. Since returning to Texas in 2010, Gregory became the
Executive Artistic Director of Katy Visual & Performing Arts Center (KVPAC),
where he and his team produce almost 40 shows a year with their programming
for children and adults. At KVPAC, Gregory has directed and performed in
numerous productions, including his recent appearance as Henry in this year’s
award-winning AACFest entry, On the Road With Hank the Horse.
Larry Adams (Improv-A-Thon) is currently serving
as vice president of the board of directors of Brazos Valley
TROUPE and is a volunteer staff member of BVT, coaching

Joyce Spivey Aldridge is a selfacknowledged third generation teacher whose heart lies in
educating others through the transformative power of theatre.
Through twenty-three years as an undergraduate theatre
professor, Joyce gained a specific expertise in creating theatre
from a combined emphasis on theory, history, and practice.
Her pedagogical philosophy was developed in classrooms,
rehearsal studios, and theater spaces across the nation where
she earned multiple teaching awards and citations for excellence in directing and
acting. Joyce earned a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado/Boulder where her
dissertation emphasis was on identifying national trends in the undergraduate
actor’s training. As a result of her extensive studies and professional experiences,
Joyce is able to provide comprehensive insights into the myriad of contemporary
acting techniques. Getting to the Truth: Actions and Objectives This workshop
focuses on the most complex and often misunderstood of the acting fundamentals-actions and objectives. Using exercises, improvisation, and written text,
participants will learn specific techniques to use when developing active audition
monologues and dynamic scene-work. Discover what it means to act with a truth
that is grounded in the heartbeat of theatre.
David Allen III is a singer/actor/writer/director born and raised in Houston,
TX. He was bitten by the acting bug in 1999 at 14 when a friend dragged him to

an audition. He realized he loved it and, since then, has taken

environment for children of all ages to learn and grow in their
love for theatre. Master Your Monologue!! - Monologues can be a challenge to
tackle for actors of any skill level. This class will explore the tools needed to take
on that challenge! Students will learn to ask the right questions when preparing a
monologue for an audition or a production and to breathe new life into even the
most challenging of pieces.

script! Come create quirky characters, establish relationships, improvise some
dialogue, and then put it on paper! A fun way to create new scripts for the stage.
Be prepared to write, act, and imagine!

A&M University-Commerce, and has been heavily involved
in educational theatre for the past 20 years. She has taught and
