Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre Internship Summer 2013 City Parks Foundation (CPF) is the only independent, non-profit organization to offer park programs throughout the five boroughs of New York City. CPF works in over 750 parks citywide, presenting a broad range of free arts, sports and education programs and helping citizens to support their parks on a local level. Our programs and community-building initiatives reach more than 600,000 New Yorkers each year, contributing to the revitalization of neighborhoods throughout New York City. The Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre (SCMT) is located in a historic building located in Central Park. The cottage was designed for marionette performances and City Parks Foundation’s master puppeteers build the marionettes by hand to preserve the age-old craft of Marionette Theater. Hundreds of thousands of children and families from around the world have enjoyed the original marionette productions at the Cottage. SCMT’s productions are based on classic fairytales and offer an enriching theatrical and educational experience for children of all ages. We offer meaningful, unpaid internship experiences in the Arts & Cultural Department, providing assistance in the office and onsite to the city’s marquee outdoor festival. Interns will gain hands-on experience in diverse areas while helping the full-time staff execute a variety of initiatives.
