Already before the opening of ticket sales for The Knife and Hotel Pro Forma’s eagerly awaited Darwin opera
TOMORROW, IN A YEAR in Copenhagen, there is massive international interest in the production. Four
whole months prior to the world premiere on 2 September on the Old Stage at The Royal Danish Theatre in
Copenhagen, the performance has already been sold to Geneva and Dresden – and negotiations with London,
Paris, Stockholm and other major cities are in full swing! But from Monday, 11 May it will be possible to buy
tickets for the performance here in Denmark, not only at The Royal Danish Theatre but also, on 27 and 28
November, at The Concert Hall Aarhus. Tickets for TOMORROW, IN A YEAR can be bought at

After it emerged that the Swedish world-name The Knife was to collaborate with the already internationally
famous and award-winning performance Danish theatre company Hotel Pro Forma, interest in
TOMORROW, IN A YEAR has been great both in Denmark and abroad. After the premiere at The Royal
Danish Theatre, Hotel Pro Forma will first travel to Geneva where there will be performances on 11 and 12
September at Château Rouge in connection with La Bâtie - Festival de Genève in Switzerland, then to
Hellerau, Dresden in Germany, where it will play on 8 and 9 October, and the performance returns to
Denmark to play at The Concert Hall Aarhus.
This year it will be 150 years since the father of the theory of evolution Charles Darwin published his ‘The
Origin of Species’. And it is precisely Darwin’s conception of the world that is the point of departure for
TOMORROW, IN A YEAR, which will be a pioneer electro-opera about the course of life, time and nature.
The Knife will reveal completely new sides of itself in its musical work for the performance. For the first time,
it will be collaborating with Mount Sims and Planningtorock. Among other things, Olof Dreijer from The
Knife has been in the Amazon for two weeks in order to make sound recordings for the performance.
TOMORROW, IN A YEAR will be an opera like no other – and with a string of the best artistic capacities
both on and behind stage. The artistic duo from Hotel Pro Forma, Kirsten Dehlholm and Ralf Richardt
Strøbech, are responsible for the concept and staging, while the choreography is in the hands of Hiroaki
Umeda, the Japanese choreographer who is one of the most sought-after international names in modern
dance at present. The dancers, singers and actors who meet on stage are Lærke Winther Andersen, Kristina
Wahlin, Jonathan Johansson, Lisbeth Sonne Andersen, Agente Beierholm, Alexandre Bourdat, Bo Madvig
Jacob Stage and Jan Strøbech. On the visual side, Danish costume designer Maja Ravn and lighting designer
Jesper Kongshaug will create the costumes and lighting design for the performance.
TOMORROW, IN A YEAR is co-produced by La Bâtie – Festival de Genève, Hellerau - European Center
for the Arts Dresden and The Concert Hall Aarhus.
The performance is supported by Bikubenfonden, Oticon Fonden, Toyota-Fonden, Beckett-Fonden,
Tuborgfondet and Fondet for Dansk-Svensk Samarbejde.

Hotel Pro Forma
Hotel Pro Forma is an international laboratory for dramatic art. Each production is a new exploration that
involves a dual staging: space and content. The architecture and the tradition and history of the performance
venue are co-players. Perception, perspective and themes from the present-day world are blended into a
conceptual, visual art form. Each performance is the result of a close cooperation between professional
performers from various disciplines: music, architecture, art, dancing, film, science, literature and digital
media.
Hotel Pro Forma has created performances for public buildings and theatres in Europe, Asia, Australia,
Russia and USA. Performance venues include Sydney Opera, Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York and
the Venice Biennale. Kirsten Dehlholm, visual artist, is Hotel Pro Forma’s artistic director. For further

The Knife
The Knife was formed in 1999 by the brother and sister team Olof Dreijer
and Karin Andersson. They are known for their non-compromising ability to
break with conventions and challenge their audiences within electronic
music and pop music. Their four releases, The Knife (2001), Hannah med H
soundtrack (2003), Deep Cuts (2004) and Silent Shouts (2006) have gained
considerable recognition, and the group won six Swedish Grammies in
2006, including the Artist of the Year award, which they also won in 2003.
Their first and only live tour Silent Shout in 2006 displayed a unique way of performing music in an
artistically experimental context. The Knife is known for creating its music from the bottom up – they
fabricate their own basic molecules for the music, in which processed voices are woven into the musical
material.
