Information regarding Dance Performance
(Show F) on Tuesday 28 June 2016.
The Stage 3 Dance Group will be performing at the CCDF on Tuesday 28 June in
two shows: the first begins at 6.30pm and the second show begins at 8.15pm.
Dancers are required to perform in BOTH SHOWS – this is not optional. Students
need to organise their own transport to and from the theatre on the night.
Monday 20 June 2016,
Dear dancers and families,
I am very excited about our dancers performing next Tuesday evening at the
Central Coast Dance Festival. They performed wonderfully at the dress rehearsal
and received excellent feedback from the artistic directors regarding their
performance on stage. Their costumes looked wonderful and, with some last minute
rehearsals squeezed in this week, I am anticipating that they will be absolutely
spectacular on stage next Tuesday night!
On the night:
KPS students will need to be dropped off at Laycock St Theatre at 6.00pm. They will
not be permitted to enter the holding rooms any earlier than this. Parents attempting
to drop dancers of earlier than this are creating WHS issues in the foyer. This is always
an extremely busy and congested time in the theatre and the CCDF committee
have advised schools to ask parents to be mindful of this. By all means, arrive early
and find a car park, but do not drop children off to holding room to be supervised
until 6.00 pm.
This year our dancers will be using the Musical Society holding room immediately to
the Right of Laycock St Theatre. Traditionally this is a very drafty venue and I
encourage dancers to be warmly dressed and prepared for the cool conditions.
The access to this venue is not through the foyer. Please walk down the access
driveway and past the backstage theatre door to Laycock St Theatre, keeping the
theatre on your left. The holding room is located behind the fire station. There will be
a teacher on the door who is responsible for ensuring that students do not leave the
holding room without a parent.
Dancers are required to perform in both the 6.30 pm show and the 8.15 pm show
(both held on Tuesday 28 June). The first show begins and 6.30 pm and should finish
around 7.30 pm. If you wish to take your child out of the supervised holding room to
have a break between performances, please make sure you go to the Musical
Society holding room and let the teacher on the door know who you are picking up
and the name of the school they attend. The teacher on the door will then
announce this on the microphone.
If you are planning on supervising another dancer in between shows it is the
individual responsibility of parents to organize this by making arrangements with
other parents. Please let Mrs Wardlaw know on the night if this has been arranged.
Students need to be back in the holding room by 8.15 pm, ready for the second
performance. Mrs Wardlaw will stay in the holding rooms for the whole time and will
supervise children between shows. Please make sure your child has a book, pack of
cards, small game or something to keep them entertained during this time (see the
note below).

Students may bring cards, books, colouring pencils and paper etc to
entertain themselves in the holding room. There will be very limited room to
move around, or ‘socialise’. It is recommended that no valuables are taken
into the holding room. Please take any items at your own risk: Mrs Wardlaw
will not be responsible for any lost property. All belongings must be clearly
labeled with your child’s name and school.
Students should arrive at the theatre wearing full costume, hair done and
make up applied.
Please remove all jewelry and watches beforehand. The safety of any
valuable items left in the holding room can not be guaranteed.
Students should wear a dressing gown, large zip-up onesie (if easily able to be
taken off) or warm jumper over their costume. Appropriate footwear should
be worn in the holding room: slippers/ugg boots are recommended. Label
everything!
Hair and make-up should be done PRIOR to arriving at the theatre.
NO aerosols to be sprayed in any holding room.
The 2nd show will commence promptly at 8.15pm and should finish around 9.15 pm.
Dancers will need to be picked up from the Musical Society holding room. Let the
teacher on the door know who you are picking up and the name of the school they
attend. The teacher on the door will then announce this on the microphone.
Dancers will not be able to go outside without an adult. Our dancers are scheduled
to perform at number 13 out of 17 performances so they will not be able to picked
up earlier than just before the end of the show.
Parents may wish to organise drop-off and pick-up arrangements with other parents.
This is a sensible arrangement but needs to be organised by individual parents.
Please inform Mrs Wardlaw on the night if your child is going home with another
parent.

If you have any questions, please ring the school or email Mrs Wardlaw before the
night. My email is [email protected]
Dancers, I know you are going to be wonderful. As they say in the theatre, break a
leg!
