Fun with Food Webs This activity is designed to help pupils understand food webs. Learning Objective: I understand what food webs represent, I can construct a food web using various example components, I can use scientific vocabulary associated with food webs. Learning Experiences: I can use my knowledge of the interactions and energy flow between plants and animals in ecosystems, food chains and webs. I have contributed to the design or conservation of a wildlife area. SCN 2-02a A food web shows the relationship between all the different food chains within a particular habitat. The food web below shows a marine food web: Killer Whale Elephant Seal Penguin Leopard Seal Cod Squid Krill Phytoplankton Zooplankton All of the different parts of the food web are interconnected. If a change occurs in one part of the web, it will impact upon the other organisms in the web. The arrows in the web show the direction of the flow of energy from one part of the web to the next. Get your pupils to design a food web for the animals below, and then answer the questions that follow.
