English Summer Reading Assignments
After they complete their assigned English reading, students in Grades 9-11 should complete the question(s)
posted by their teacher on the LMS. These questions will be posted between August 9 and September 1. They
should also comment on the posts of two of their classmates. Once logged in, under the Summer Activities tab,
go to the English, and select Resources and her 2015-2016 grade level. Seniors do not have assigned
questions but should seek out their mentors for conversations as required by the guidelines for the Senior
Paper.
Summer Math Review
Geometry and Algebra:
Students entering all levels of Geometry and Algebra 1 or 2 complete summer math review work using
TenMarks math (tenmarks.com). They will receive login information, directions, and assignments
through school email accounts by June 15 from Ms. De Jesus and Mrs. Ziegler. Once logged into the
LMS, locate the “Upper School Information” tab, select “Summer Activities” and “Math” from the
dropdown menus, and locate your 2015-2016 grade’s folder under resources.
Pre-Calculus, Honors Pre-Calculus, Calculus, AP Statistics, or AP Calculus AB:
Students entering these classes will find a link on the LMS (see instructions above) for their summer
assignment. Students should print their assignment and complete throughout the summer. The
expectation is that students complete problems weekly in order to review, retain, and master topics
required for the course they are entering. Please contact your teacher with any questions.
Community Summer Reading
In addition to assigned reading, SPSG students in Grades 9-11 are required to select at least one book from
the Community Summer Reading list for her grade. This book should be one that has not been read
previously. Any digital or print edition of the Community book is acceptable. The lists are posted on SPSG’s
Learning Management System (LMS). Once logged into the LMS, locate the “Upper School Information”
tab, select “Summer Activities” from the dropdown menu, and locate your 2015-2016 grade’s folder under
resources. Within that folder you will find subfolders for Community Summer Reading, English, and Math.
Upper School students will use the LMS over the summer to complete a short assignment related to their
summer reading. Under the Summer Activities tab, go to the Upper School Community Summer Reading
group and then to the correct grade level. From there, students can browse the assignments by clicking on
the Resources button in the top banner. Pick one assignment to complete. To post the completed assignment,
please select the Discussions button and go to the correct activity’s discussion board topic for your
grade. Students should post their initial assignment by July 21st, and then reply to at least one other student’s
assignment post by August 21st.
