Communications Specialist
About the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau
The mission of the CC CVB is to drive overnight visitors to the Corpus Christi area. The CC CVB acts as a full-service area
travel information center for leisure, business, and convention travelers. The CC CVB also provides marketing and
communications support for the local tourism and convention industries to help drive tourism activity to the area.
Position
Communications Specialist will report directly to the Director of Special Events and Social Media
Description
Corpus Christi CVB seeks a dynamic self-starter to assist in marketing and communications efforts with an emphasis on
social media and digital content marketing to support the CC CVB brand, Tourism Partners, and Signature Events.
Responsibilities
 Create a social media strategy with the Director of Social Media and develop content for all digital platforms,
including Social, Website, Email, and Visitor Information Center initiatives.
 Develop and maintain a content inventory, available at all times, to include (but not limited to)
o 25 memes/Quote Boxes
o Photo inventory of various zones as it correlates to www.visitcorpuschristitx.org
o 5 experiential videos
o Other content inventory as developed in social media strategy
 Assist with updating and maintaining CC CVB’s social media presence, including (but not limited to) daily
monitoring, posting content, scheduling, customer engagement and reporting across Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram, and other social media outlets
 Manage the daily partner engagement on all VisitCorpusChristi social media channels
 Supply in-house graphic design for CC CVB marketing and communication strategies
 Create Share Drive content folders for Corpus Christi area zones
 Manage content, photos and video in Share Drive zone folders
 Research, gather and input events into the CC CVB website events calendar and website listings daily
 Collaborate with Director of Special Events and Social Media, Director of Brand Management and Director of
Communication and other CC CVB staff members on new ideas, directions and tools for marketing and
communications
 Prepare weekly update reports and maintain regular contact with supervisor
 Additional duties, as required
Qualifications
 Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
 Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (eg, English,
Marketing/Communications, Graphic Design or Public Relations)














Previous experience in graphic design
Firm grasp of available tools and platforms on various social media channels
Related experience in marketing or communication
Understanding of the basic principles of public relations and/or marketing
Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel)
Up to date with industry leading graphic design software and technologies
Knowledge of HTML, website content management
Possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate in a professional manner with media and community contacts
Ability to work well independently and within a team
Commitment to cultural sensitivity and respect for differences
Commitment to the continuous improvement of service, quality and the CC CVB’s mission
Professionalism regarding time management, budget and deadlines
Photography/videography skills a plus
Hours
40 hours/week
