Craven Community College Position: Department: Reports to: Status: Revised: Marketing Design Specialist Student Services Director, Marketing, Communications & Development Liaison Full-Time, Non-Exempt September 2012 OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY The Marketing Design Specialist reports to the Director of Marketing, Communication and Development Liaison and contributes to the implementation and effectiveness of integrated college-wide marketing operations, strategies, and initiatives. The Marketing Design Specialist collaborates with institutional partners to continuously strengthen the visual identity and brand of the college through developing and identifying key messages that connect with diverse internal and external audiences. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Develop concepts and designs of promotional materials, including direct mail, postcards, newsletters, flyers, invitations, etc. Edit and maintain the college Style Guide; ensure that college design standards are consistently used. Collaborate with staff, faculty, and administrators where appropriate to execute college=wide communication and marketing activities (promotional materials, advertising, comprehensive marketing campaigns, multimedia, college publications, etc.) Effectively manage and prioritize marketing requests, design/production schedules, and delivery targets. Collaborate with the Webmaster to ensure messaging is consistent with overall college marketing and communication objectives. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure proper representation of the college’s mission, values, strategic goals, and offerings. Deliver all marketing activities within budget. Assist in the development and implementation of a strategic enrollment management plan that is consistent with the mission and strategic goals of the college. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts, design, marketing, or closely related field. Minimum three years experience in graphic design, marketing, or communications. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills. Knowledge of photography. Creative understanding of branding and market penetration. Ability to meet deadlines under time and resource constraints. Knowledge of Macintosh, Quark Express, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and experience with Microsoft Office. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and attend to details.
