Case Study | Trek Bicycle Australia Expansion promoboxx.com 1 Trek Australia Expansion About Trek Bicycle Founded in 1976, Trek Bicycle has grown into one of the largest and most influential bicycle companies in the world. Guided by continual innovation, Trek Bicycle is no stranger to rolling with new ideas, particularly when it comes to finding ways to support their dealer network. Overview In March 2014, Trek Bicycle expressed interest in replicating its North American retailer success with Promoboxx abroad. With major retailer networks globally, they opted to test the international waters with over 100 of their shops in Australia. Trek’s Global Head of Retail Marketing identified an opportunity to activate their Australian market due to the number of requests from retailers in that geographic region asking for easier access to Trek’s co-branded online marketing content. The Trek marketing team in Australia was far leaner than that in North America, and unable to provide a substantial amount of marketing support to its retailers. By partnering with Promoboxx, Trek Australia would have a scalable solution to supply retailers with co-branded digital marketing campaigns. 5 Key Objectives 1. Strengthen Trek Australia’s relationship with independent retailers. 2. Promote a unified campaign across all corporate & retailer marketing channels. 3. Launch a platform for online marketing distribution to retailers. 4. Generate consumer leads for Trek Bicycle & its Australian retailers. 5. Create “always-on” stream of online content for retailers. But this time, instead of having to manually customize more than 100 separate campaigns co-branded to each retailer, he loaded up one campaign and let the platform work its magic. “Promoboxx is easy to incorporate & a highly effective platform to implement across our national retailer base, with positive feedback from all active users.” Ian Callaghan, Marketing Manager Trek Bike Australia [email protected] promoboxx.com 3 Trek Australia Expansion The Results: Growth Opportunities for Trek Bicycle Promoboxx automatically generated a custom version of Trek’s campaign branded to each retailer, creating massive scale for this retail marketer and for his local shops. A personal relationship between the retail shop owners and the retail marketing manager further helped facilitate buy-in. To date, 76% of the Australian network is active in the platform, representing one of Promoboxx’s most active retailer groups. Most importantly, Trek’s direct competitors in Australia have been absent in supporting their retailers with consistent, fresh, brand-sponsored digital content. This has encouraged shops selling multiple bicycle brands to favor Trek on all of their digital channels. With their retailers actively sharing content, Trek Australia has extended their social reach by over 50,000 user impressions. In addition, leveraging the sales rep tools available within Promoboxx allows Trek’s international team to view a holistic reporting dashboard that takes brand, sales rep, and retailer marketing activities into account. Now, Trek can see how well a campaign performed across multiple international networks to further simplify and standardize major global campaigns like international product launches, sponsorships, and social media initiatives. With this success, Trek is currently evaluating the opportunity to launch a 2015 Promoboxx expansion into their Mexican and European markets.
