HealOzone
- now available at Wilkinson Dental Care
We are pleased to introduce you to
HealOzone which is the latest technology in
the treatment of tooth decay. Ozone
treatment works by killing bacteria, viruses
and fungi and promoting healing.
Ozone can be used to:
keep fillings smaller because less infected tooth needs to be removed, thus reducing
the amount of drilling and often eliminating the need for local anaesthesia.
treat deep decay and greatly reduce the need for root canal treatment.
sterilise root canals before filling them
make teeth less sensitive
speed up healing of mouth ulcers and cold sores
speed up tooth whitening in certain situations.
The HealOzone unit converts oxygen into
ozone which is a highly reactive oxygen
molecule. It is applied to the tooth through a
handpiece using a small silicone cup, this
forms an airtight seal over the tooth. In 20-40
seconds the ozone disinfects the cavity and
allows any dental decay to re-mineralise over
the next few weeks. It greatly reduces the
chance of the tooth decaying again in the
future. The application of ozone in this way is
completely safe and is suitable for children
and adults. Of course we still advocate good
oral hygiene measures and a diet low in
sugary drinks and snacks.
Ozone treatment has won many international dental research prizes over the last decade
and is considered to be the future of dentistry (90% of dentists in New Zealand use ozone
treatment).
This treatment is not available on the NHS, however it can be used to complement NHS
dental treatment at a cost of £12.00 per tooth.
This treatment is included with all private composite fillings.
