The Microban brand is the global leader in built-in antibacterial protection, with expertise in the addition
of a range of antibacterial technologies into a wide variety of materials and product applications.
Since signing an exclusive and non-exclusive agreement with Microban, COLOP has the rights to use
the Microban additive and brand trademark in the manufacture and the marketing of the COLOP
range of products.

What is Microban® antibacterial product protection?
Microban technology is a built-in antibacterial protection for solid products, coatings and fibres.
Microban antibacterial protection gives products an added level of protection against damaging
microbes such as, bacteria, mould and mildew that can cause cross-contamination and product
deterioration.
Microban technology, combined with regular cleaning practices, helps to improve hygiene
standards and provides extra protection wherever it is used. Microban is targeted protection.
This means it is focussed on the areas where it is most beneficial for the consumer.
How do products with Microban® antibacterial protection work?
Microban protection is built-in to the product during the manufacturing process. When microbes come
in contact with the product surface, Microban protection penetrates the cell wall of the microorganism and disrupts cell functions making contaminating micro-organisms unable to function, grow
and reproduce.

This information is based upon standard laboratory tests and is provided for comparative purposes to substantiate antibacterial
activity for non-public health applications. Microban technology is not designed to replace good hygiene practices or protect
users from disease causing microorganisms. Antibacterial action limited to product surface.
COLOP are utilising Microban third generation silvers incorporated into a
matrix optimised for antibacterial efficacy. 3G Silver™ offers active and long
lasting protection against bacteria and other micro-organisms, like Listeria,
E.coli, Salmonella as well as S.aureus (Staphylococcus aureus) and MRSA
(Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). For centuries, silver has been
known for its antibacterial properties.
How is it guaranteed that Microban® antibacterial product protection
is safe?
Microban technology has undergone extensive independent laboratory testing and has a long
history of safe use. It is registered within Europe with the BPD (Biocide Product Directive) and within
the USA with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for all applications in which it is used.
