Over 3,000 legal professionals to get on their bikes for Breast
Cancer Care’s Tour de Law 2014
On Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th October, more than 3,000 lawyers will take
part in the largest ever Tour de Law event for Breast Cancer Care, to mark Breast
Cancer Care Awareness month.
A phenomenal 20 leading Law firms have signed up for this year’s event, including
Addleshaw Goddard, Allen & Overy, Ashurst, Baker & McKenzie, Bates Wells
Braithwaite, Charles Russell, Devonshires, Eversheds, Farrer & Co, Freshfields
Bruckhaus Deringer, Herbert Smith Freehills, Ince & Co, Latham & Watkins, Norton
Rose Fulbright, Plexus Law, Proskauer Rose, Sidley Austin, Stevens & Bolton, Weil
Gotshal & Manges and Wright Hassall.
An average of more than 150 lawyers from each of the above firms will take part in
the static cycle race over the equivalent distance of from London to Paris and back in
15 minute relay slots over the two days.
Cycling Olympian Victoria Pendleton has kindly donated a signed Breast Cancer
Care cycling jersey for this year’s Tour de Law auction. Track cycling world
champion and Olympic gold medallist in the team purist, Geraint Thomas, has also
kindly donated signed kit for the Tour de Law auction too. The event this year is
kindly sponsored by the UK’s leading mint brand Smint, as part of their wider
commitment to the charity.
Tom Dollinger, London Managing Partner of Proskauer Rose said, “We are delighted
to be taking part in Tour de Law for the first time this year and are very much looking
forward to coming together as an office for such a worthy cause.”
Michael Carter, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Addleshaw Goddard
London said, “This is our debut on the Tour de Law and with the memories of Le
Grand Depart still fresh in the mind we have a team made up of some very keen
cyclists as well as other willing volunteers who are very much looking forward to
getting into the saddle and competing with other City lawyers to support the valuable
work undertaken by Breast Cancer Care.”
Ben Elikington, Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills said, “Herbert Smith Freehills
are incredibly excited about our debut in the Tour de Law and the opportunity to
raise money for such a great cause.”
Cherie Blair CBE QC, who has been a Breast Cancer Care Patron for 17 years said,
“It’s great that Tour de Law is back again for a third year. The funds raised by the
record breaking number of law firms taking part this year, will be invaluable in
supporting the vital work of Breast Cancer Care – the only UK-wide specialist
support charity for anyone facing this brutal disease. With one in eight women now
diagnosed with breast cancer, there has never been such an urgent need for the
charity’s support services.”
All funds raised will help Breast Cancer Care support the thousands of women
waking up to the harsh reality of breast cancer every day.

About Breast Cancer Care:
Breast Cancer Care is the only specialist breast cancer support charity working
throughout the UK. We were founded in 1973 by Betty Westgate, who was herself
diagnosed with breast cancer. In the ensuing forty years we have supported millions
of women and their families through our face-to-face, phone and online services. We
also provide training, support and networking opportunities to specialist breast
cancer nurses, and Breast Cancer Care publications are used by the majority of
breast cancer units throughout the UK. We campaign for better support and care and
promote the importance of early detection, involving people with breast cancer in all
that we do. Visit www.breastcancercare.org.uk or call our free helpine on 0808 800

About Smint:
Smint will be sponsoring and sampling Smint strawberry for Tour de Law 2014.
Smint is a distinct product in the UK market, which is available in a trendy one-at-atime convenient dispenser and also has a patented design. The Smint Mint pastille is
a small but powerful, breath-freshening mint that is sugar-free and good for one’s
teeth. Launched in the early 1990’s, Smint micro-mint is available in Mint, Spearmint,
Strawberry and Peppermint flavours. 5p from the sale of each Smint Strawberry pack
is donated to Breast Cancer Care and Smint has raised over £90,000 during the last
3 years in donations for the charity! Smint’s Tin range has been recently re-branded
as XXL mints in order to highlight the difference as compared to the Smints available
in a dispenser. Smint XXL mints are available in Peppermint and Spearmint flavours
and are perfect for your car or desk.
