Propolis Glycol Extract is rich in flavonoids with anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. One of the most widely
known and extensively tested properties of propolis is its antibacterial activity. Many scientific tests have been conducted with a variety of
bacteria (Kedzia, A. et al. 1986) (Kedzia, B et al. 1986) (Meresta, L. et al. 1985/1986) (Meresta, T. et al. 1988) (Dimov, V. et al. 1991)
(Rojas Herna'ndez, N.M. et al. 1990), fungi (Chernyak N.F. et al. 1973) (Millet-Clerc, J. et al. 1986), viruses (Maksimova-Todorova, V. et
al. 1985) (Neychev, H. et al. 1988) (Serkedjieva, J. et al. 1992) (König, B. et al. 1985) (Gerber WF et al. 1975) and other microrganisms.
Many of the tests have shown positive control of the organisms by various extracts and concentrations of propolis. A synergistic effect has
been reported for propolis extract used together with antibiotics (Chernyak N.F. et al. 1973). Whether propolis exhibits bactericidal or
bacteriostatic characteristics often depends on its concentration in the applied extract. Sometimes, propolis extracts are more effective than
commercially available drugs (Millet-Clerc, J. et al. 1987).
Tea Tree Essential Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) is rich in alpha-terpineol featuring wide-ranging and powerful disinfectant, anti-microbic,
anti-fungal properties: Stafilococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida Albicans. It is well tolerated except
for rare cases of irritative skin and mucous reactions. Australian standards were established for the amount of one particular compound,
terpinen-4-ol, which must make up at least 30% and preferably 40–50% of the oil for it to be medically useful. Another compound,
cineole, should make up less than 15% and preferably 2.5% of the oil. The oil kills fungus and bacteria, including those resistant to some
antibiotics (Carson CF et al. 1993) (Carson CF et al. 1995) (Millet-Clerc, J. et al. 1986).
Aloe Gel (Aloe Vera) is rich in polysaccharides, pectin, amino acids and vitamins and is well-known for its anti-inflammatory, cicatrising,
soothing and refreshing properties. Aloe is another popular remedy for minor burns and a small preliminary study found it more effective
than vaseline in treating burns (Visuthikosol V et al. 1995). The stabilized aloe gel is typically applied to the affected area of skin three to
five times per day.
Calendula Officinalis Glycol Extract of Flowers, rich in flavonoids, polysaccharides, carotenoids and essential oil with antiinflammatory action of the skin and mucous, stimulates skin epithelisation and trophism. Calendula may be applied to minor burns to
soothe pain and help promote tissue repair. It has been shown in animal studies to be anti-inflammatory (Della Loggia R et al. 1994) and
to aid repair of damaged tissues (Patrick KFM et al. 1996).
Hamamelis. Tannins and volatile oils are the main active constituents in hamamelis. These constituents contribute to the strong astringent
effect of witch hazel. Pharmacological studies have suggested that witch hazel strengthens veins and is anti-inflammatory (Duke JA. Et al.
1985) (Bernard P et al. 1972) (Korting HC et al. 1993).
Soya consists of isoflavones, coumestrol and sterols that appear to inhibit oestrogen within the body when the oestrogen levels are too
high (for example in menstrual disorders), and to compensate when oestrogen levels are low (such as before, during and after menopause).
Ellegyn douche mousse has a protective effect and reduces the risk against hormone dependent breast cancer (Messina MJ et al. 1994)
(Adlercreutz H et al. 1993) (Lee HP et al. 1991) (Mansel RE et al. 1990). Genistein and Diadzein are phyto-estrogens that regulate
naturally hormone production. This effect is especially desired for a correct and regular hormonal equilibrium and a natural increase in the
breast (Fotsis T et al. 1993). Moreover these phyto-estrogens increase the production of hormone dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA),
essential for the stability of the cells.
Sage with phyto-estrogenic and anti-bacterial properties. Sage is a hormonal stimulant that is a valuable remedy for irregular and scanty
periods (Chev. Andrew et al. 2001). They have a carminative effect and they help to regulate hormonal imbalances (Kruger J et al. 1999).
