TLP Model 4000C - RedWolf Instructions IMPORTANT Different countries/places have different voltage supplies. BEFORE you start operating the charger please MAKE SURE you know the voltage supply of the location you are using the charger. Set the charger to the correct voltage for your location by switching the button on the bottom of the charger to either 220V or 110V. Connecting the charger to the WRONG voltage supply, i.e. setting the charger to 110V and connecting it to a voltage supply of 220V is very dangerous. The charger may explode or catch on fire. Step 1: Select the correct voltage on the bottom of the charger, either 220V or 110V to comply with the voltage supply of the location you are in. Step 2: Plug the charger in to a valid socket. If the shape of the plug is not the same as that of the socket, buy a universal adaptor to connect the two. When done the red LED (POWER) will be on. Step 3: Connect the battery cable to the outlet on the front of the charger. Red colour cable to the red outlet and black colour cable to the black outlet. Step 4: IMPORTANT: BEFORE connecting the battery to the battery cable ALWAYS turn the “Current Adjustment” dial to “1” Connect the battery to the battery cable, the 2nd LED from the right (SLOW) will be flashing. This indicates the charger is ready to discharge/recharge. Step 5: Turn the “Current Adjustment” dial to a suitable level. (Refer to Table 1 for details) Step 6: To start recharging push the “Mode Select” button once and the 3rd LED from the right (FAST) will be on while the “SLOW” LED will be off. When the battery is fully charged the “FAST” LED will turn off automatically and the “SLOW” LED will be on. Step 7: Disconnect the battery from the battery cord when done. Step 8: To discharge the battery, follow step 1 through 4 as described above. Instead of pressing the “Mode Select” button once, press it twice so that the 1st LED from the left (DISC.) is on. Once again when discharging is complete the “DISC” LED will turn off and the “SLOW” LED will turn back on. Step 10: If you want the charger to automatically recharge the battery after discharging press the “Mode Select” button 4 times. IMPORTANT 1. From the insert page included in the kit, it indicates that once the battery is connected to the battery cable the “SLOW” LED will turn on and the battery will begin slow recharging. From our experience it will take over 5 hours to complete. 2. The “SLOW” LED WILL NOT turn on when either the “FAST” LED or the “DISC” LED is on. 3. Each battery pack can be recharged approximately 200 times. Battery performance will gradually deteriorate. Table 1: Selecting the correct current charge, i.e. the degree of “Current Adjustment” button: Current Level Range of mAh Approximate Charging Time (hr) 8.4V 600mAh 1 – 1.5 110 – 400mAh 1–2 8.4V 1700mAh (mini size) 1 – 1.5 110 – 400mAh 1–2 8.4V 2000mAh 2 – 2.5 600 – 1200mAh 1.5 – 2.5 8.4V 2400mAh 2 – 2.5 600 – 1200mAh 1.5 – 2.5 8.4V 3000mAh 2 – 2.5 600 – 1200mAh 1.5 – 2.5 9.6V 1500mAh 2 – 2.5 600 – 1200mAh 1.5 – 2.5 9.6V 1700mAh (huge type) 2 – 2.5 600 – 1200mAh 1.5 – 2.5 *9.6V 2000mAh 3–4 1400 – 6000mAh 2–3 *9.6V 2400mAh 3–4 1400 – 6000mAh 2–3 *9.6V 3000mAh 3–4 1400 – 6000mAh 2–3 2.5 800mAh 1-2 Battery Capacity 12V 600mAh *From our experience, the battery will have the best performance if recharged at current level 3. Charging at level 4 is ok, but the battery will deteriorate quickly. Moreover, the charging time is a reference for a new battery. IMPORTANT: NEVER set the current level higher than the level stated in the above table. Failure to do so will melt/burn out both the battery and the charger and cause an accident.
