The Wiegand / Aba converter will convert the wiegand / clock data signal to rs422. 2 The Protocols The protocols described in the chapters below are supported by the Wiegand / Aba converter. 2.1 Wiegand protocol The communications protocol used on a Wiegand interface is known as the Wiegand protocol. The Wiegand interface uses three wires, one of which is a common ground and two of which are data transmission wires usually called DATA0 and DATA1, alternately labeled 'D0' and 'D1'. When no data is being sent both DATA0 and DATA1 are pulled up to the 'high' voltage level usually +5 VDC. When a 0 is sent the DATA0 wire is pulled to a low voltage while the DATA1 wire stays at a high voltage. When a 1 is sent the DATA1 wire is pulled to a low voltage while DATA0 stays at a high voltage. A high voltage level of +5VDC is used to accommodate for long cable runs. 2.2 Mt, ABA, Clock data protocol MT protocol, or Clock/Data or ABA track 2 is a worldwide communication protocol standard. The Clock/Data interface uses three wires, one of which is a common ground, one used for the Clock signal and one is used for the data signal, usually called Clock and Data. When no data is being sent both Clock and Data are pulled up to the 'idle high' voltage level usually +5 VDC. Clock signal, when low, the data bit on the “Data” pin is valid. Data signal, data bits are read from the card sequentially and output on this pin. When low, the data bit is a '1' and when high, it is a '0'. The data is only valid when the “Clock” pin is low. 3 Connection The Wiegand / Aba converter has two type of connectors. The RJ45 which is used to connect the Wiegand / aba converter to the Polyx, and the six pins not removable connector which is used to connect the card reader to the conver board. 3.1 Wiring diagram The 6 pin not removable connector: Pin number Description 1 Data / D0 2 Clock / D1 3 LED 4 IO / Buzzer 5 GND 6 VCC Output 13/14 VDC Current: average: 20mA peak : 50mA The Polyx and the Wiegand / Aba converter connected by a default UTP cable. The wires of the RJ45 connector are standardized in EIA-568-B. 3.2 Polyx configuration For optimal communication, it is recommended to have the latest version of one of the following operating systems. 2.6 JFSS2 3.3 UbiFS And at least the polyx firmware should be version: 04.02.XX The polyx should be provided with the correct reader configuration file. This should be done in the following steps: Open the latest available version of the hardware control applet. Click on “Substation” and press “Configure” device. Select the reader ports ( reader 1 and / or reader 2) which you would like to configure. Select as protocol “wiegand converter”. Select as Card protocol “the protocol which you would like”. Save the name.taz file. Upload the created name.taz file by browsing to the Polyx, or upload it through the nodemanager in Iprotect. Remark! Browse to the polyx to see the version information.
