Annual Tree and Plant Sale American Arborvitae-Grows to 40 ft. Evergreen foliage is scale-like and flat. Grows well in ordinary soil. Well suited for windbreaks and privacy borders. Canadian Hemlock-Short, soft light yellow green needles in spring changing to glossy dark green. Likes moist, organic well-drained soils. Tolerates shade well. Does not tolerate drought and wind. Colorado Blue Spruce – A handsome ornamental specimen or use as a dense, colorful screen or windbreak. Does well in ordinary soil with average moisture and full sun. Color in Colorado Blue Spruce is influenced by spacing and soil fertility. Douglas Fir- A splendid pyramidal evergreen conifer, with shortstalked flat, dark green or bluish green needles, ¾ to 1” long. Bears 2 to 4” cones at maturity. A hardy, rapid growing tree aht does well in a variety of soils, but does best in deep, well drained soils. Beautiful Christmas tree, picturesque ornamental, windbreak and can be sheared as a hedge. Scotch Pine – Beautiful evergreen with rigid, bluish green needles. A vigorous growing, hardy plant, adjusts itself to dry soils. Easily transplanted. One of the fastest-growing of the pine family. Popular for Christmas tree producers, a good ornamental for specimen planting. Excellent for windbreak use. Norway Spruce – A graceful pyramidal with shiny, dark green needles. Beautiful spreading branches with drooping twigs. An extremely hardy tree that grows in most soil conditions. Makes a charming Christmas tree, an appealing ornament specimen, or an protective windbreak. Fast growth makes this spruce ideal for timber. Black Cherry- Grows to 60 feet. A valuable timber tree which can be planted in the open or as an underplanting. Dense foliage with green lustrous leaves, single white flowers in late May producing black cherries in August. Good species for wildlife food. Does well in a wide variety of soil types. Red Oak – Fast growth 60 to 70 feet with equal spread. Its dense, lustrous green foliage turns a deep red in the fall. Grows best in sandy to rich loamy soil in full sun. The fastest growing of all oaks. One of the most popular ornamental oaks. It transplants easily, and withstands city conditions. Sugar Maple- An attractive tree that can be used for dual purposes. A handsome tree for shade, it has a rounded head with dense green foliage having serrated three to five lobed leaves. The smooth silvery bark becomes darker as the tree ages. Mature trees produce sap in the spring for making maple syrup and sugar. The wood of these trees is hard maple, valuable for floors and furniture making. Mature height approximately 70 to 100 feet. White Flowering Dogwood- One of the most popular flowering trees. In spring it is covered with white-petaled flowers, and in early fall with red berries and beautiful crimson leaves. Excellent ornamental that grows 15 to 40 feet tall. Elderberry-Large, spreading, multi-stemmed shrub with large, flattopped white flowers in June-July followed by purple-black berries. Can be sued for syrup, wine, jellies and pies. Excellent for attracting birds and will grow in wet areas. Grows in any type of soil and is very hardy. Everbearing Strawberry Plants- Strawberries are one of the easiest fruits for the home gardener to grow and one of the most rewarding. This perennial blooms spring and summer prior to bearing fruit. Will produce large juicy berries throughout the summer. Comes bare-root. Blueberries- The Blueray Blueberry, is a heavy producer of high quality large, powder-blue berries with outstanding dessert flavor. Pink tinged flowers are followed by edible, sweet, round, deep blue berries to 1/2 inch across. It is a midseason blueberry that ripens early August. The foliage turns a burgundy color in the fall. The blueberry grows best in organically rich, medium to wet, welldrained soil in full sun to part shade. Catawba Grape- Catawba Grape is a late season grape, specially selected for the North, produces fruit for jams and jellies, red wines and champagne. The medium-to-large size red fruit keeps well and is widely planted for their sweet, rich taste. Self-fruitful, a pollinator is unnecessary but the vine will do even better by planting two. Niagra Grape- This grape offers a sweet and tart flavor with a strong aroma. The grapes are popular for consuming as a fruit treat, or used in jellies, jams, juice and wine.
