A selection of Ingredients in Nourishing Hair Oil (with Rosemary)
ROSEMARY (ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS)
The evergreen leaves of this shrubby herb, Rosmarinus officinalis, are about one inch long linear, dark green above and
paler and glandular beneath, the flowers are small and pale blue. The pungent somewhat camphoraceous odour of
Rosemary reflects its therapeutic properties - it is a tonic and stimulant. It is traditionally employed in Hair Lotions.
Because of its revitalising, stimulating action, Rosemary is used in many Weleda products. It is used either as a tincture
or an essential oil. Rosemary tincture is prepared from the dried leaves, whilst Rosemary essential oil is steam distilled
from the whole flowering plant.
CLOVER (TRIFOLIUM PRATENSE)
Commonly referred to as Clover, this flower has traditionally been used to prevent hair loss. When used it hair care, it is
also known to improve the hair’s strength and elasticity.
.
PEANUT (ARACHIS HYPOGAEA)
This light yellow-colored oil is pressed from the shelled and skinned seeds of the Peanut. It is extremely stable, with
nourishing and protective properties.
* Through Weleda’s refinement process, which involves the filteration and vacumn heating of the oil at a temperature of 450
degrees Farenheit, the allergen - the allergy-causing protein in Peanut Oil - is eliminated.

BURDOCK ROOT (ARCTIUM LAPPA)
Commonly referred to as Burdock Root, this plant grows wild throughout North America, Europe and Asia and generally
flowers between July and October. It is comprised of tanning agents, Vitamin C and Essential Oils. Burdock Root is
traditionally used for the treatment of skin eruptions, such as acne, and to alleviate scaly skin conditions, such as
psoriasis and dry scalp. It is also known for its ability to relieve bruises and inflammation.
FRAGRANCE (PARFUM)
Fragrance (Parfum)* denotes the presence of natural essential oils in a formula. Natural essential oils are healthpromoting and life-preserving ingredients. Natural essential oils, versus synthetic compositions, enhance our wellbeing
both mentally, spiritually and physically. Essential oils stimulate our mind and body, awakening our senses and
stimulating the parts of our brains that control our emotions and regulate our hormones. Physically, essential oils promote
the circulation and metabolic functions of the skin and its tissues. Furthermore, almost all essential oils possess
fungicidal and bactericidal properties, purifying and promoting the health of the skin.
LAVENDER (LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA)
The volatile oil comes from the fresh lavender-coloured flower tops of the Lavender plant. It is known for its aroma
therapeutic, balancing and soothing fragrance, which has a calming effect on the nervous system and helps calm skin
conditions aggravated by stress. Lavender oil is a named ingredient in several products and is commonly used in the
fragrance blend of essential oils (Fragrance (Parfum).
