Semievergreen, shadeloving, and deer resistant Native to Georgia Dryopteris ludoviciana • Use: The tall upright growth habit and shiny/leathery dark green fronds makes a striking specimen. Very easy to grow and is a perfect foil for hostas in the woodland garden. Also useful in tubs or mixed containers, combining beautifully with other shadeloving plants, such as Hostas or Hellebores. The old fronds can be trimmed in spring if they look untidy. Mulch around the plants with dead leaves in the fall, to help conserve moisture in summer. • Exposure/Soil: Part shade–shade. Acid, moist, well-drained soil, but not soggy. Use slow release fertilizer two times a year. • Growth: The fronds are 30-48" tall and 12" wide. Creeping, branching, forming clumps. Slow to moderate growth rate. • Hardiness: Zone 5-8 Perennial • Foliage: Semi-evergreen. A clumping fern with semi-evergreen glossy foliage creates an upright accent for the shade garden. • Flower: none Did you know that we recycle empty pots and trays? Please bring them back!
