Double Cranesbill Geranium himalayense 'Plenum' Height: 18 inches Spread: 24 inches Sunlight: Hardiness Zone: 2a Other Names: Lilac Cranesbill Ornamental Features: Geranium himalayense 'Plenum' flowers Photo courtesy of NetPS Plant Finder Double Cranesbill features beautiful violet flowers at the ends of the stems from late spring to mid summer, which are most effective when planted in groupings. It's deeply cut lobed palmate leaves are emerald green in colour. As an added bonus, the foliage turns a gorgeous orange in the fall. The fruit is not ornamentally significant. Landscape Attributes: Double Cranesbill is an herbaceous perennial with a mounded form. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other garden plants with less refined foliage. This is a relatively low maintenance perennial, and should only be pruned after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season's flowers. Deer don't particularly care for this plant and will usually leave it alone in favor of tastier treats. It has no significant negative characteristics. Double Cranesbill is recommended for the following landscape applications; - General Garden Use - Mass Planting - Border Edging - Container Planting Plant Characteristics: Double Cranesbill will grow to be about 18 inches tall at maturity, with a spread of 24 inches. Its foliage tends to remain dense right to the ground, not requiring facer plants in front. It grows at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 10 years. 3103-17t hSt r eet Edmont on,AB T6T1H9 PH:7804698733 FAX:7804655328 WEB:www. mi l l cr eeknur ser y. ca This perennial does best in full sun to partial shade. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist locations, and should do just fine under typical garden conditions. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. This plant can be propagated by division. This is a selected variety of a species not originally from North America. 3103-17t hSt r eet Edmont on,AB T6T1H9 PH:7804698733 FAX:7804655328 WEB:www. mi l l cr eeknur ser y. ca
