Tree logic Pty Ltd. 2005 Eucalyptus polyanthemos (Red Box) Origin: Victoria and New South Wales. Habit: Small to medium sized, somewhat crooked, native, evergreen tree, 7-25m in height by 615m in width. Description: Rounded to broadly ovate, slate grey-green to glaucous leaves. Bark is grey and finely tessellated, often persistent to small branches. Buds are in 3-7s in panicles with creamy white flowers opening from September to January. Moderate to fast growth rate with sufficient irrigation and long lived. Tolerances: Tolerates a range of soil types; high drought and frost tolerance; and moderate salt and waterlogging tolerance. Notes: Fast growing when young though moderate once established, it is one of the more distinctive Eucalypts having attractive rounded grey-green foliage and massed clusters of small flowers. Root space: Based on mature size tree would require approximately 113m2 area or 68m3 root volume (crown projection method), Availability: Common. Above: Grey, finely tessellated bark.
