Golden fragrant flowers. Camellia Japonica Williamsii - Good glossy evergreen foliage. Requires acid soils. Long lowering period. Chimononanthus Praecox - Sweetly scented pale yellow flowers produced on mature plants. Cornus Mas - Cornelian Cherry - Large shrubs with small yellow flowers cover bare stems during February. Daphne Mesereum - Sweet scented purple/red flowers through February/March. Thrives in chalky soils. Daphne Odora - Small shrubs. Requires some protection. Very fragrant blooms. Eleagnus x Ebbingei - Small fragrant white blooms in November. Strong growing evergreen. Erica Carnea - Winter Heather - Various winter flowering forms. Excellent ground cover. Best planted in drifts. Can be grown in alkali soils. Erica Darilyensis - Similar to Carnea but usually taller growing. Will also accept chalky soil. Garry Elliptica - Good wall evergreen, full of flowers borne in long slender catkin form. January/February. Helleborus Niger. - Christmas Rose - White flowers tinged pink. Mulch with manure during spring. December/February. Helleborus Orientalis - Lenten Rose - Flower shades from white, creams to plum purple. February/April. Jasminum Nudiflorum - Winter Jasmine - Good on walls or banks. Bright yellow flowers. November/February. Lonicera Fragrantissima - Lovely sweet fragrant cream flowers during late winter/spring. December/April. Lonicera Purpussii - Winter Beauty - Very free flowering form with fragrant cream flowers. Mahonia Japonica - Good architectural foliage with racemes of fragrant lemon yellow flowers. December/March. Mahonia Media - Vigorous form. Lemon yellow flowers slightly fragrant. December/February. Hamamelis - Witch Hazel - Spider like flowers some are fragrant. December/March. Pachysandra Terminalis - Very useful evergreen groundcover in shaded site. Greenish white flowers. February/March. Prunus Subhirtella Autumnalis - Small tree up to 7.5m. Semi-double white flowers intermittently from November to March. Rhododendron Arboreum - Magnificent large shrub. Long leaves up to 20cm. Forms vary in flower colour from white to blood reds. Sarcocca - Christmas Box - Attractive evergreen glossy foliage with fragrant white flowers during late winter. Skimmia Japonica Rubella - Male clone carries red buds throughout winter. White flowers follow during Spring. Viburnum Bodnantense - Upright habit. Sweetly scented, rose tinted flowers. Flowers frost resistant and remain for several weeks. Viburnum Farreri - Medium to large shrub. Flowers pink in bud opening white. Sweetly scented. November to February. Viburnum Tinus - Popular evergreen. Pink budded flowers turning white in late autumn/early spring. Medium to large shrub with good structure.
