Prunus subhirtella
'Autumnalis'
Winter hardiness zone
5b
Prunus subhirtella 'Autumnalis' is a densely branched large shrub or a medium-sized tree with
branches that spread at an angle and are somewhat pendulous. The tree has a broad vase-shaped
crown. Height 6 - 8 m. The leaves emerge green and turn to yellow to orange in the autumn.
Flowering repeats from November to late April, except in frosty weather. The semi-double flowers
are a very pale pink (almost white), while the flower buds are darker. Because of the long flowering
period the tree does not flower abundantly at any one period. 'Autumnalis' is used as a park tree.
Winter hardiness zone: 5b
