give an indication of
their approximate size.

MAIL ORDER
TERMS
Plants will be despatched from the
beginning of March until the end of
October.
Orders received before March will be sent
as soon as possible once we start
despatching, in the sequence in which they
were received.
Cash with order. Orders will only be
acknowledged if a stamped addressed
envelope accompanies the order.
In the event of a variety being sold out another
of equal or greater value will be substituted,
unless you have indicated alternatives
acceptable to you or stated you do not want
substitutes, in which case we will issue a credit
note. Please quote invoice number in any
correspondence about your order.
We only send out well established young

nursery. We are therefore happy to
guarantee our plants for 30 days from the
date of despatch. If any plants fail in that
time, please contact us. Your statutory rights
are not affected. After this time, failure of
the plants will be due to the growing
conditions which are beyond our control,
and for which we cannot be responsible.
We will be glad to advise you about any
problems you are having if you describe in
detail any symptoms. We cannot however
replace plants after 30 days.

Welcome to the Dibleys Houseplant Catalogue
Welcome once again to our catalogue in
which I hope you will find much to interest
you.
We have had another successful year at
major flower shows, gaining ten Gold
Medals at RHS shows including our 22nd
Chelsea Flower Show Gold. I think this
gives an indication of the quality that our
plants can achieve.
At Chelsea Show Streptocarpus ‘Sioned’
was in the final twenty plants in the
‘Chelsea Plant of the Year’ competition. A
new accolade for us was ‘Gardening
Which’ magazine trialled ‘Rose Halo’ and
awarded it ‘Best Buy’ status with 5 stars.
We have some beautiful new plants again
this year. In the Streptocarpus section
there are four wonderful new varieties of
our own breeding. Including ‘Sweet Melys’
which is our first scented one and it is also
extremely floriferous.
We are again increasing our range of
Saintpaulias. We have ten new and rare
introductions for you. Worth a special
mention is ‘Ness Satin Rose’
In the Gesneriad section especially eye
catching are Kohleria ‘An’s Nagging
Macaws’ and Achimenes ‘Tango’, a
beautiful red-orange.
Becoming very popular are our fully grown
pot plants that are just coming into flower.
These are despatched within a few days of
ordering to give you instant effect or they
can be sent, along with your message, in an
attractive ceramic pot to make a wonderful
present for somebody special.
Do visit our Nursery where you can see
thousands of plants growing in our
glasshouses, have a walk around our lovely
garden and of course, choose plants to buy
from the large range in our shop.
Have a successful growing season.
Another variety bred by Frank Davies of the
British Streptocarpus Society is ‘Lyndee’
named for my daughter Lynne. This really
stands out and is quite distinctive.
STREPTOCARPUS SIONED
Voted one of the "Top 20 New Plants" at Chelsea 2011. See page 11 for full
description. Code F60 £3.00
CARE OF STREPTOCARPUS
Knowing their geographical distribution helps in understanding their care, they come
from the wooded areas in mountains, so they do not want full sunshine, but they do
want a bright position. Too much sun burns the leaves and fades the flowers. Keep
them in a shaded greenhouse or indoors in an East or West window.
Overwatering, in particular regular overwatering, will cause harm to the root
system. The first symptom of overwatering is exactly the same as
underwatering i.e., the plant will wilt. So make sure the compost is actually dry in
between watering. Please remember every plant is a separate individual and should be
treated as such.
Streptocarpus need a high potash feed and the most convenient way is to insert a
Dibleys Streptocarpus Fertiliser Tablet each month.
In winter, water less often, do not feed and keep the plants in a place free from frost.
In March or April gradually start watering more often and commence feeding. The
winter flowering Crystal varieties need feed throughout the year. Plants should be potted
into a slightly larger pot each spring.
Do not over-pot; you will get more flower by keeping the plant on the pot
bound side. Using half or three quarter depth pots is a good idea. (see pots on
page 35).
Given this treatment you will be rewarded by a continuous display of flowers from
about May until well into winter. You will also find the flowers are good for cutting.
Full care of Streptocarpus is covered in our book, see page 35.
STREPTOCARPUS ROSE HALO
Rated 5 Stars by 'Gardening Which' when trialled in summer 2011. See page 10

slightly thicker than most other streptocarpus flowers and open with a pale blue tint which changes
to a pink tint as the flower matures. A large habit.
A lovely shaped plant with compact leaves and flower stems but large flowers. The flowers have
beautiful violet-blue lace patterns on the lower three lobes on a yellow background, whilst the upper

planting again into fresh compost in the spring. The xAchimenantha, Kohleria and some Achimenes grow best with some support.

BEGONIAS
We are again increasing the range of Begonias we list. Begonias require similar conditions to Streptocarpus. It is a genus of several thousand
species and hybrids with a wide range of types and habits. We are not offering the tuberous varieties grown solely for their large flowers, but a
range of beautiful species and hybrids which deserve to be more widely known. Many have showy flowers as well as attractive foliage.
They will withstand a wide range of light levels but avoid excessive sun or shade. The temperature should be kept to a minimum of 10˚C (50˚F) .
