Euphorbia amygdaloides var. robbiae
Robb’s Wood Spurge
(Pronounced: you—FOR-bee-ah amig-duh-LLOYD-ease ROW-bee-eye)
Description: Evergreen spreading perennial. Size: 15” tall x 24” wide. Rosettes of
dark green glossy leathery leaves. Yellow green (chartreuse) flowers, late winter to
spring, lasing for months.
Landscape Value: Year-round interest; deer-resistant; tolerates varying light conditions;
spreads to cover large areas quickly and provides greater interest through the year than
more common evergreen groundcovers; combines well with Cimifuga, Fern, Hosta, Ligularia.
Culture: Sun or shade (light dappled shade is best). Moist, humus-rich soil. Cut
flowering stems down to ground when flowers fade (summer) to encourage basal growth.
Divide in spring. Protect skin from milky sap when pruning. NOTE: can be invasive – use
where wide area of groundcover is desired.
