Matrix Technical Support Mailer – 64 How to restore database through SQL Management Studio Dear Friends, This mailer will help you to restore database using SQL Management Studio. Introduction: COSEC database can be either MSSQL database or ORACLE database. User can take COSEC database backup and restore it. For SQL database, user can take backup using database Utility and restore using SQL Management studio 2005 or 2008. Prerequisites: To restore SQL database, SQL Management studio is required SQL Service should be started Shared Memory, Name Pipes and TCP/IP should be enabled in SQL configuration manager. Follow mentioned steps to restore COSEC database to other database Configuration Steps: 1. Open SQL Management Studio 2. Select Server Name Click Browse for more option 3. This will open Browse for Servers window Expand Database Engine option Select Server path and click OK 4. Select Authentication Mode Either Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication Windows Authentication: User doesn’t need to provide login credentials; SQL server takes windows credentials for authentication SQL Server Authentication: Specify Username and Password which have been configured during installation of SQL 5. Click Connect option This will open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express 6. Click Database option This is the Names of Database available in SQL studio 7. Expand Databases option and right click on the required database for choosing restore option. 8. Click Restore option and select Database option This will open Restore Database Window 9. Specify source location of backup Select From Device option Click Browse icon This will open Specify Backup Window 10.Click Add option 11.Select Backup file path which should be in .bak format 12.Click OK 13.
