[Method]
Samples are incubated for 5 minutes at 37 ℃ with p-nitrophenol-α-Dglucopyranoside (NPD) 2.5 mM (concentration at test). After incubation,
α-glucosidase (from yeast) was added to 0.005 U/ml at the reaction concentration.
After incubation for 15 minutes at 37 ℃, equal volume of 0.2 M sodium carbonate
solution was added to stop the reactions. α-glucosidase activities were calculated
from the absorbance of each solution at 400 nm.
[Results and Discussion]
The inhibition activities against α-glucosidase are getting stronger by higher
concentration of polyphenol in rose petal extracts. Especially ROSE CRYSTA-70
shows the most strongly inhibition activity.
Α-glucosidase is the enzyme to degrade maltose to glucose. Then the producing
and increasing of glucose is slow. As a result, glucose absorption will be calm,
and ascending of blood glucose level will be mild.

[Method]
7 and 5 healthy persons are tested with 560 mg and
100 mg dose, respectively. Subjects had nothing
except water or pale tea after 9 P.M. the days before
their tests, and also they did not have their breakfasts.
In each test, blood glucose level was
measured (0 min.) before eating 200 g of rice.
Each subject additionally eats 560 mg or 100 mg of
ROSE CRYSTA-70 as a test group, nothing else as
a control group. Blood glucose levels were measured
at 30 min., 60 min., and 120 min. after finishing eating rice.

Anti-Oxidation Activity
DPPH-radical elimination activities of ROSE CRYSTA, ROSE CRYSTA-70,
and popular anti-oxidant Vitamin C and E were measured.
ROSE CRYSTA showed twice or three times stronger activity than Vitamin E,
furthermore ROSE CRYSTA-70 have much stronger activity than Vitamin C.

[Results and Discussion]
The blood glucose levels at 30 min. were different in both 100 mg and 560mg test groups, comparing with that of control groups(* : p<0.05, + : p<0.1).
These results indicate that ROSE CRYSTA-70 can prevent against diabetes and metabolic syndrome by preventing rapid glucose level ascending and
following ascending insulin level. Insulin is known to stimulate producing fatty acid, and keeping insulin level low have possibility to reduce fat and to lose weight.
