Weather and Water Cycle Notes Weather: the condition of the atmosphere at a particular time and Place Water Cycle: Continuous movement of water from water sources into the atmosphere and back onto/into the ground and back to water sources 3 Forms or States of Water: 1. Solid 2. Liquid 3. Gas Humidity: Amount of water vapor or moisture in the air Relative Humidity (%) the amount of moisture the air contains compared to the amount it can hold Evaporation: Liquid changing into water vapor (gas) rising into the Atmosphere Transpiration: the process where plants release water vapor into the air through their leaves Condensation: process of water vapor(gas) becoming a liquid, happens during 100% relative humidity and the air cools Dew Point: temperature the air must cool to, to be saturated Completely Cloud: collection of million water droplets or ice crystals that forms as warm air rises Three types of clouds: Cummulus, Stratus, Cirrus Precipitation: Water that falls from the atmosphere to the earth Four types: rain, snow, sleet, hail
