Introduction: Importance Many applications of knowledge discovery and data mining require the knowledge to be consistent with data. ï® Databases usually changes over time and make machinediscovered knowledge inconsistent. ï® How can we detect, check & update these inconsistent rules without high maintenance costs? Useful knowledge should be robust against database changes so that it is unlikely to become inconsistent after database changes. ï Defines a notion of robustness in the context of relational databases ï Describes how robustness can be estimated and applied in knowledge discovery. ï® 3
