ProSUM Česká geologická služba (Czech Geological Survey - CGS) • the state organisation in the Czech Republic that compiles, stores, interprets and provides objective expert geological information for the state administration, the private sector and the public • a state-funded body with about 390 employees; the research institute supervised by the Ministry of the Environment and responsible for providing the state geological service in the Czech Republic • the only institution with the mission to systematically investigate the geological composition of the whole territory of the Czech Republic since 1919 ProSUM Česká geologická služba • the main fields of expertise include geological research and mapping, applied geology, research on mineral resources, assessment of their economic potential and mining impact, geochemistry, natural risks, management and delivery of geodata • CGS Division of Informatics has developed a reputable national geoinformation system capable to meet the increasing public demand for relevant geoscience information and effective provision of geodata • Modern information technologies and data management systems are routinely used within the CGS and IT specialists to support all phases of projects, including metadata system, design of web-portal architecture, development of data models and effective data processing and presentation. ProSUM Česká geologická služba • CGS has contributed to the EU-financed projects eEarth, eWater, GEOMIND, EO-MINERS, etc. • In the Minerals4EU project CGS has developed and maintained the metadata catalogue. • In the OneGeology-Europe project CGS was a WP leader, responsible for the multilingual metainformation system. CGS has taken the responsibility to maintain the system after the project end, based on the agreement with EGS. CGS has been coordinator of the successor OneGeology-Europe Plus Initiative. • In AEGOS (African- European Georesources Observation System) CGS was WP leader, responsible for the proposal of the technical architecture, operational procedures for data management, technical infrastructure and technological workflow.
