To Which Conjugation Does A Verb Belong?
Every verb belongs to one of FOUR CONJUGATIONS.
1st Conjugation
These are verbs whose 2nd principal part ends in –ARE
Example: amo, amare, amavi, amatus
2nd Conjugation
These are verbs whose 2nd principal part ends in –ERE
AND the 1st principal part ends in –EO
Example: moneo, monere, monui, monitus
3rd Conjugation
These are verbs whose 2nd principal part ends in –ERE
AND the 1st principal part ends in –O or –IO
Example: ago, agere, egi, actus
capio, capere, cepi, captus
4th Conjugation
These are verbs whose 2nd principal part ends in –IRE
Example: audio, audire, audivi, auditus
